At least those cats are using sound as a measurment... (in theory) not a computer program.... lol. I guess your example would have a strong foundation except, the idea of measuring the frequency of something to "see" how it "sounds"... as opposed to "listening" is a tad anti-musical. (therefore anti-mpc in a sense)
But then again i'd be willing to bet that the same people who use 12bit-a-fiers and claim sonic equality to other gear are usually the same cats who will use the presets on an all-in-one mastering "finalizer" plugin, and claim just as good as Herb Powers. (sweeping generalization [pun intended])
If you can hear a difference... you can. If you cant...you cant. Its kind of ridiculous to debate if another person can hear something. In reality.. most of the people who claim there is no difference... never owned said machine. They will also claim that another person hears the difference only because he OWNS the machine...
