60 users tried a 500s seq.?

I think it's mostly psychological to be honest, unless the 60/3000 has a wildly different feel to the 2kxl that is, which in my opinion is very close in feel to the 2500. Maybe it just comes down to preference.

not mental at all,its a physical feel.have u ever tested out all the mpc's?it's a big difference in feel from 60/3000 to all the others.the closest is the XL

I think most of us who haven't used a 60 or 3000 would like to have one for a day just to see what the fuss is about, but as I mentioned I used to own an XL and the feel of the 2500 is somewhere close to it. The sound is where the most noticeable difference comes into play, but the 2500 has a more transparent sound which is what I want these days... and the inclusion of usb and a big internal hard drive.

If I didn't have the 2500 i'd probably want a 3000LE, but to be honest i'm way too used to graphical waveform editing so I don't think I could do without it now. I'm sure the build quality kicks the shit out of the new models though.

The 3000 feels awsome, my friend has the 3000LE and I own a 2000XL..difference in feel and sound imo not to mention the farmiliar but totaly different OS.
Things just bump out right with a 3000...never tried a 60 so can't comment.

I totaly agree with AD 110% thats what the MPC's were about in the first place...new MPC's are so diluted from the original concept it's unreal.

People used MPC's cos the feel and i'm not talking about midi timing or anyting but the non visual factor and how you would use your ears instead of looking at blocks on the screen in cubase...that's what switched me on to mpc's..

BUT I will say I do like the waveform display on the XL from the fact that if I have some drums sampled from a drum machine and I don't want any air before the sample what so ever I know I can make the cut 100%..so if I have 2 bass drums they will both sound ok if triggered together.
But for choping samples hip hop style and what have you nahh man use your ears, auto chop?! lol I thought thats why people wanted MPC's to not have that shit on there lol Remember when people used to diss ReCycle! well now it's on your MP
I preffer to do my chops in the S3200XL than the MPC2000XL

Thank you Numark Akai for ruining the MPC and marketing it to death...I would of preffered it if Akai totaly died rather than beeing brought out by stupid Numark and rincing the hell out of the brand name with a buch of wack products..just look at the MPC-5000 lol the old 4000 is better

Well, the mpc-500 is a monster of it's size. It can do the same as the 1000 but only have two outputs. People that say the 500 i wack must have to many wieners up their ass. They don't know what they are talking about. It's the smallest in the family and therefore also the simplest, but still an awesome box! But then again, i newer understood the hype about the 60, and yes i have worked on one.

well the 60 has the more dirty and gentle sound that u can have....
about the 60 is all about the sound... it sounds different.. if u like some old stuff and would like to make that sound... well that's your choice..

I mean I bought mine to have a more portable MPC that I can make simple beats on
to perform over live.I have gotten used to it and Its not that bad.It slips up a little bit
but I think you can work around it sequencing problems
If you listen to the beat on my myspace page called Zuluma
I did that on my 500 and you can sorta hear the lag when I am switching between
sequences but I think it added a hesitation that I like
But I have had it crash and freeze here and there but over all
I love it
It was worth the money
I have yet to try and perform with it and quickly load 4 or five different beats
we will see
So far I like it just as much as my 2000 og

All MPCs are about as "high tech" as a 1980's ghetto blaster, so we're all in a similar boat! Graphical editing on the MP is also super basic compared to any software program, but it's useful and essential to me. Chopping on the other hand, be it 'auto' or 'manual' with the JJos is stunning compared to any other Akai/Nukai/Linn version...

I just don't buy the 'you get more out if you do it the hard way' rationale, and I spend weeks and months on tracks sometimes, so it's not just about speed.
