nope, i actually just found an old mac UltraDrive, external scsi HD, and it works!!

3 zip drives that dont work sitting beside it tho ? thats fukked..
still have no way to load programs tho, well only floppy atm, but at least i can save stuff i sample onto the HD.. thank god the card isnt wack i really didnt wanna fork out the dough for a new one.

YES!! Congrats!!!

Not sure, but remember to patition it, it has a limit of files per partition that can cause issues. I keep my zip partitions at 5Mb's each or so.

You should get a working zip drive though. Remember to always connect it with both units powered off and power up the zip first.

Maximum drive connected size ? Who knows.

Maximum formatted size is 780megabyte.

A 1gig drive will be format limited to 780megabyte.

So with a 3 gig drive you only get 780Mb formatted or usable? Is that what u mean?

erkl i would try to connect one of your zip drives. Maybe it works if the HD is first in the chain but i doubt it.

yes you can chain, use a different scsi ID of course.

OK here it is.

MPC60 ( later OS's with SCSI board fitted ) = 512 files per partition.
MPC3000 = 512 files per partition.

Drive size limits.

Hook up a drive larger than 780 megabytes and the space greater than that amount will be wasted.

EG: 1gig minus 780mb = approx 220mb wasted space.

768mb is probably the limit if that's the maximum size. I'd use the hard drive and forget about the zip if I were you since the hard drive saves and loads faster. I got a 1gig on my mpc2000 and it's so fast and reliable.

MPC60/3000 machines show the disk size based on a maximum 30mb partition limit.

MAX-PART-SIZE = 30
MEG = 1024
PART-TOTAL = 26

(MAX-PART-SIZE x MEG) = 30720
(30720 x PARTTOTAL) = 798720
(798720 / MEG) = 780

Disk size maximum = 780 megabytes.

I think I have the same problem, I have the 60 w/ the OS 3.10 and I just got a zip but it seems to not be recoqnized, I read this whole post but its not clear to me where I am going wrong or what I need to do...

I had the same problem the first hour I got my mpc. Once I understood I had to format the disk first (choose the right scsi id), it was all good.

although your zip ain't recognised yet, still make sure the light on the zip blinks at least once when the mpc boots. that was the hint that made me understand my mistake : at least the mpc made the zip do something, though not really recognizing it as I thought

however if this doesn't work, it may be the same problem as mr. erkl

The zips that I have in the drive are probably formatted for windows and I was hoping I could just re-format for the mpc but its like no life at all, you would think that if formating was my problem that you would get a screen saying "hey your disk is either bad or not formatted"... it says that I dont even have a scsi connected...

This thing looks like the exact same setup as I have... 100 meg zip and the same scsi card...
