MPC 60 II price?

i picked up and mpc60 mk2 a couple of months ago. i paid 650 and it was in excellent condition just a slight ding on corner. it had max expanded genuine akai memory. 3.1 os and everything is in exellent working condition aswell as backlight brightness. no scusi but meh not realy something i need i dont mind the floppys, they help me keep everything organised. 900 seems like a pretty solid price for a full blown 60 in mint condition but my best advice is if the guys being a prick then f*** it. nothing worse then wasted time.

I can definetly appreciate that one. You bring up a good point about floppies keeping you organized. The only problem with this cat is well he's a 'prick' haha. I mean normally I wouldnt mind droppin that for something im looking for, but to not show me the screen or even acknowledge if the scuffs I see are a glare or not come on.. I told this dude he probably would have sold it already if the description was more thourough and had included more accurate pics. He's probably a she judging by the ebay nick 'brandijomusic'.

So about these card readers, has any fitted one for the 60? I mean, what are they plugging into (like ide) and how do they get their power? I just havent seen many 60's or 3k's with them. I would think they all would have them like my 2000xl does if it were a common feasible solution.

The reason you haven't seen more 60s and 3000s with card readers installed is because there was no kit to provide the internal SCSI connector until we started selling them recently. Before us, you had to send your MPC to LA to get an expensive mod done to it (around $300 or so). Our install kit made it possible for most anyone to install an internal SCSI drive and the kit is only $49.00. We are selling lots of card readers nowdays for both 60s and 3000s, so you'll probably start to see more come on the market that have the card readers installed.

Another reason is that there simply weren't any card readers available that are compatible with the 60 or 3000. The only compatible ones were the old Microtechs and those are rare as hens teeth or the Spyrus drive that required the Vailixi os ($200+). We now sell a very reasonably priced card reader that works well on both models, so more and more people are putting them inside their MPCs.

That's what im talking about. Great work. So the kit is 49.00, but does that include the internal card reader? Are the card readers OS dependent?

No, the kit doesn't include the card reader. Our CF-CARD SCSI card reader drive is available to mpc-forum members for $99.00. Some card readers like the Spyrus and Microtech are os dependant. But our CF-CARD drives work with any os version and any brand, both Akai and Mansell Labs.
