What's the consensus on the fat pads?

Thanks for the input as I'm trying to get a little feedback from people that have used these or own them. I have a couple of questions for you.

1. Do you currently have the "Thick Pads" on your Mpc? Did you order them and return them?


2. Concerning the "double triggering" pads...did you try adjusting the sensitivity of the pads to compensate for this? I know that the thickness along with the cork inserts make the pads more sensitive but I would think you could find a sweet spot through sensitivity adjustment.

I placed an order yesterday for these but for the MPD32 as the MPD32's pads are not as sensitive as my Mpc 2500's pads were and the pad sits lower in the casing of the MPD32 so there is about 2/3 of the pad showing compared to normal Mpc pads.....I figured the "Thick Pads" would solve both these issues.

sorry to chime in so late...

i bought the unit with the fat pads installed...

my friend had a normal-padded version which i used to like a lot...

my mpc died, sent it to forat, while it was in his hands i asked for a normal padding downgrade from him..

he did so.. and im happier then ever...

he gave me a ridiculously low price on screen replacement, cpu board fix that NOBODY amongst 2 different akai service centers, and Armens mpc shop in new york could even think they could repair ... + overall cleaning, tightening of the output jacks that were loose in the back, reparing of the armrest that was hanging loose

for all of that i was able to pay a third of the price any of the other people ive sent it to wanted me to pay for just the cpu board fix...

+ he did it in 2 days straight, and was able to go mail my unit by regular mail by himself so i wouldnt have to pay the pickup charges and everything...

guided me thru everything and discouraged me to spend on some of his services (paint job etc)...

the man is a dedicated person...

Put fat pads on my black MP1K a little over a week ago and I'm finger drumming for an hour or two every day since. I really dig the feel and responsiveness of them-- so much so that I'm inspired to just jam on it like a drum kit way more than I ever was before.

figured id chime in on this post... I too went with the all black fat pads for my 2xlSE1 and the pads where def not as pad hitting friendly but i through them in the dish washer and boom nice and loosened up... at least it worked for me... top rack
