^^^^ THIS ^^^^

In fact it's pathetic. No wonder people rarely talk with their neighbours anymore.

So many people so unwilling to help another unless there is something in it for themselves.

isnt it possible to get the payment section of his site disabled by whatever company deals with the payments? its pretty much a criminal thing at this point, intentionally or not..either he is actually dead or there is no excuse at all to not take 5 mins and stop the payments coming in. It must be death or the pipe in my mind

Yes it is possible. If Paypal receive enough reports from people who paid and did not receive their goods, they will disable their services pretty quickly. The first thing paypal will do is ask the site owner to produce evidence of delivery, i.e. signed delivery notes etc. If they receive no response, then things will escalate from there.

I am aware that many people have exceeded the official 'buyer protection' period (60 days?), but it would do no harm to get your reports into Paypal anyway. Plus if you paid by credit card, you have at least 180 days to file a report.

And yes, I agree, if the guy is not fulfilling orders, for whatever reason, people need to know about it and the payment page should be disabled. However for all the moaning and bitching, I have yet to see one person confirm that they've reported this problem to Paypal, nor any copies of responses from Paypal over the matter.

yep i'm surprised it hasn't been closed already if its paypal (didnt know it was) i would have expected enough people to have put in a claim for them at least to have frozen the account (which they do quite willingly when it comes to ebay business tho i spose that aint the same since thats them too!)

MPC-Tutor wrote:I'm interested to hear ideas on how you guys think people are unwilling to help here. To my knowledge, there's only ever been an email address on his site. If he doesn't answer that, what next? Are you expecting someone who lives in Australia to go all 'PI' and track the guy down? What address would he be using, the domain is just a privacy service.

The FACTS of the matter are that there were people in the previous thread, some whom live in Australia, that said they have regular contact with him, either via phone or directly face to face. So if calling him again, or letting people know what the outcome of their "efforts" to contact him were is going all "PI" as you put it, then yes I do expect that. I never realised calling a "friend" was considered Private Investigation.

These same people strangely disappeared after saying they were going to contact him.

MPC-Tutor wrote:What is it you think 'other' people should be doing that you are not willing to do yourself? Do you think there's some conspiracy by the MPC community to not try to sort your problems out for you?

Unbelievable.

This isn't my problem. I don't own an MPC3000, but I am concerned for these fellow forum members who appear to have been ripped off.

In fact I was asking around after Rohan when I was down in Melbourne recently. I have a couple of acquaintances who manufacture audio equipment there and were asking if they knew of him or how to contact him. No luck though.

Why are you so defensive/paranoid? I could be wrong, but no one's even mentioned you with regards to any of this.

Unbelievable indeed!

Same here. maybe I miss

If paypal/bank/creditcard reports would equal the complaints made here maybe money could have been/can be recovered.

Why wait so long people? It's a transaction, treat it as such and stick with the rules in order to do everything you can to get your money back.

Paypal has fairly strict and straightforward guidelines over claims, if you don't do so within 60 days it is I believe (or 40, I can't remember the exact figure at the moment), then they aren't much interested. That's as far as getting your money back anyway. I have indeed reported it to paypal through email, however all I received was some crappy automated response.

I need to actually phone them to get a better result which I do intend on doing soon, this could lead to the suspension of the account sure, but it doesn't help the people who have already fallen over the allotted time period.

To answer your question - I am defensive because there's a bunch of people coming onto my forum and accusing the 'MPC Community' of not trying to help out. That's wrong, most people round here are happy to help people whenever possible. And yes, I take this personally, because I own and manage this site and have helped build this community and watched it get stronger and stronger over the past 10 years, so I don't like it when people start accusing people like this:

This whole situation is ****. For such a tight knit community there has been a complete lack of willing shown by people who probably have the means to contact him in a variety of ways..

There's no 'lack of willing' from the community. That's absolute rubbish. As I've said before, if any regulars round here knew the guy, they'd help out in a heart beat - this forum is all about helping others. monkeymarc is a member with 4 posts who hasn't visited since Dec 2011 - hardly a regular, tight member of this community. It's great that he posted up some info, but ultimately without him following up it's not really helped people.

More people need to be aware/read up of this rule so they can go about their business getting their money back. It's unfortunate but it is a rule nonetheless. Seems like peoples just wanna blame but not taken responsibility on their part in a timely manner. Gotta know the rules, but not everyone does.

How about contacting banks, fill out an affidavit, fraud claim?
Has anyone tried that? I don't recall anyone stating so.

Tutor and Lamp bring up some good points. I'm not sure how this can be done, but possibly if all the costumers here send a joint complaint, maybe everyone who's timeframe ran out can still be able to get their money back. I'm sure PayPal has dealt with situations like this. So I would definitely suggest going that route, so even the customers who may not even know about this forum can get their money back as well. A list of all the customers needs to be evaluated by PayPal, I would assume. There's quite enough money involved for PayPal not to investigate and reimburse everyone.
