need some info before buying a 3000

just get your standard HD 1.44 mb floppy discs. I dont know where you can get them, try those $1.00+ stores... sometimes they have a few boxes behind the counter where they keep memory cards, batteries, or what ever... sometimes they also sell boxes in the section where they have old blank cassettes, VHS cassettes, and CD+R boxes etc...

I personally got mine on craigslist because somebody was selling a box of boxes brand new.. I payed like 10 bucks for a sealed carton of 100 blank brand new disks.

look everywhere, look for the best pricing. You can check office supply stores...

and when you are in a small non-chain store like the dollar+ stores... if you see a few boxes, ask the manager or owner who is probably there in the shop if he would cut you a deal for all of them.

How many floppies will you need? that depends on how long you will keep and use the machine. You will need at least one for each beat you make... unless you want to make beats, record them to the computer... then erase the floppy to use for something else... which sucks .. that is like throwing away your master once you have your album pressed.

Hell yes and its a solid sequrncer and just to easy to learn

My favorite feature is the ability to layer to modules when choosing a midi out and another on the the same track,dnt know if the 4000 does this as well

Actually the 4k is the only MPC that allows for true layering with it's dual MIDI channels.
You can send a track to two difference places without having to copy or duplicate the notes.

Can't understand why Akai did keep that feature.

How many programs can the 3000 load and be able to choose from?

So 24 pgms that add up yo 128 sounds but can all 24 programs be loaded in the 3000 or even half so I can switch threw them to choose which one I like. 32mb seems low to even load up that many sounds

Pgms aren't big, it's the size of the samples in it that dictates how many can be in memory. So if only one can be active then yeah load one from memory and when u switch the active pgm you'll change all 64 pads.

If something is already recorded on a track though the sound on that track changes too. The recorded pad bang events will stay the same.

Why does it say that the 3000 can have 24 pgms and 124 samples loaded into memoru then and why is there a pgm field On the screen that goes 1 to 24?
