Has anyone had their MPC 3000 backlight replaced ?

After I openend the 3k for the first time yesterday, I realized that I definitely do it myself. The inside kinda reminds me of the first generation Toshiba laptops from 1995-97 I'll holla once I finish it and post some pics.

yeah, I'v done lots of work on my 60, I seldom get something without opening it up and having a look, and if there are upgrades, I'm all about them!

I just finished reading over the PDF again, and I'm positive I can knock this out myself. I'm gonna go with the white backlight, so the young 3k should look real clean once I'm done.

I had one final question.... who should I buy from ?

backlights.telesisgear.com or midi-rakete ? I was thinkin telesisgear, because they are in Southern Cali, but I'm not sure if they offer different colors. I'm gonna call them today to ask, but I just want to be sure about the quality. So, if any of you have purchased from either one of the above places, let me know what you think of their products.

I use midi-rakete, but with the euro so high now, and the dollar so low, better just go with telesis, I'm sure they'll be fine.

Well, the backlight has been ordered and is due to arrive early next week. I called backlights.telesisgear.com, and asked if they had different colors... even they said "Go with the white backlight, you won't be sorry" . So white it is. My wife just picked up a new digital camera, so I'll do some before and after pictures.

IT'S A WRAP!!!!! I replaced the backlight in my 3k and DAMN does it look nice!!!! I think I woulda kicked myself in the n**ts, if I would have paid somebody to do it for me. Big thanks to all y'all who provided advice, tips and encouragement, I really appreciate it. I'll post up some pics in a day or so, for those who are interested. Now I'm off to go make some slappers... damn, I can make beats in the dark again.

YO! Thanks to the wise words of DJames and Elmacaco I have just recived my new backlight from Telesis and I must say it was a smooth transaction. Extremely delightful staff and very very helpful. Not only did they send the backlight out right away, the staff pretty much walked me throught the whole process over the phone..WOW thats what I call service. I never soldererd ever. I managed to to pull it off! I went to Walmart and picked up 10 buck soldering kit. It had instructions and I followed loosely a post I found in search that my Elmacaco droped months ago about how to DYI. Hey my fellow MPC60II Rookies its pretty easy just gotta have a steady hand and patience and some skill would make it a bit faster too.

It took me roughly about 2hrs but I am slow and I was going really slow cause I had to practicing soldering before I decided to take it on myself. Well its done now and my Backlight looks healhty and brighter than the sun! I cant believe I did it myself and I cant believe how good it looks. The difference is night and day. 50 bucks will get it done spend and extra 10 to 20 and Telesis can do it for you. I called VST also in California USA and they can to can do it for you, but thier Backlights themselves are a bit more expensive than the Telesis backlight. I dont know why. Well, check them out Telesis is great go with them if you decide to replace a backlight.
Two thumbs up for Telesis and a waving my "W" in the air Westside is the best side!!!
