I think you will benefit from the SCSI more than the memory, I would say get the SCSI before the memory.

i definitely dont feel like the scsi is worth $300. i wouldnt shell out of my own pocket for the memory upgrade either, really.

anyway, last night i finally got to tear my studio up and redo all my midi and 1/4" connections (found out the day after i got it in the mail that i got accepted to transfer to a school of engineering so ive had tons of shit to do!). tons of fun as you might imagine, but it was necessary. now my mpc is the heart of my studio. the sequences sounded mighty tight, much better than the timing from Logic. i should have some pics of my setup soon, but here's a picture of my minty looking mpc60:

shit really looks like its barely been used. im so amped to get learning how to use this beast.

I use my MPC60 in my house...

Corny I know...but I had to say it. No I don't make house but that is a clean looking 60 you got there. I would get the memory upgrade first and then the SCSI upgrade later. Do a search though..a dude named Goldenechos was selling his SCSI expansion for $200 w/ a zip drive and some other goodies. Get at him, it's worth it.

Yo I do deep house esclusively. I think I have only programmed a Hip Hop beat for fun or maybe a remix. I make house tracks and I first started doing them on old ensoniq sampler and then when my friend turned me on to DJ SHADOW, I was in awe. I was amazed at the production and to think he did all that on an Akai MPC! So, eventualy after doing a hell of alot of research I read that Kenny Dope used an MPC60 and MPC2000xl. Have you heard Masters At Work stuff? Yeah! Well you know that I had to get an MPC so now I got a 60II and MPC2K.
Its really good to see that there are some house producers on here!

Kenny Dope does use a MPC 2000xl now. But the machine that he used that basically made him who he is today is the SP1200. He and Todd Terry were and still big users of the SP1200. Mostly all of Todd Terry records and remixes were made strickly with the SP.

Yo Fam whats up!? I got some tracks I am working on. I would like to get them released on a 12inch possibly. However I would like to feature a remix on one of the tracks. However cats want mad cash for remixes. I am doing this solo and I dont have a grand to support a remix.
Is it totaly neccessary for a remix. I have heard friends of mine say "damn whats up with the lone track on this 12?" I think having a remix would add a little more to a single release. along with an aditional track.
Is it realy neccessary to put out a record without a remix of the main track?

If someone is interested in doing a remix I could pay you. But not a hell of alot. I could however give you the chance for mad exposure. All of this due to the fact that I know a few top deejays personaly and have gotten air play with another release. Also I could hook you up with some copies of the release to do with as you please. I will be doing some crazy guerilla marketing advertising the remix and the remixer. So if you are interested hit me up. Thanks alot.
