Converting .WAV samples to .SND samples

So should I have formatted the disk on the computer instead of the MPC? I will go to midicase.com

From what I recall, Awave does not convert to Akai 2.x MPC60 OS. You would still need 3.1 for it to work with Awave.

This does not work properly last time I check (recently). MPC will not read AU format SND files (which is what they are from these programs) and if you import an MPC60 SND file in these apps it mangles the header and will treat it as data. In effect you will get 42 bytes of MPC header mashed into these app's data section causing artifacts.

for shedding a little bit more light on the subject. I don't mind sampling the Old Fashion way plus I'll be ordering the upgrade within the next month.

I had a brain fart for a minute. CEP and AA do treat AU SND as RAW data. Sorry bout that.

acoustica mp3to wav converter. cheap adn easy to use

CEP takes SND sound and just adds a burst of noise at the begining. delete that amd you can save as snd or wave. Not sure if the resultant SND will work on the mpc though.

Specifically, you can import in CEP RAW Intel format and delete the first 37 samples. That only works on mono samples. Not sure why one would go through so much trouble since wavsnd to will convert it automatically in either direction for mono or stereo and it's free.

OK, now while I know this has been discussed 1,000,000 times+, I still do not fully understand. I have an mpc60 with 3.10, and from what I understand, you can convert wav. to .snd or something.... right? I just got tired of sampling the old fashioned way.So, when I read this thread, I was like 'oh, alright, get mpcEditor." So, I downloaded a copy of it, and everything seemed cool. By the way, I'm using Windows2000. SO, I made the program and saved it, then I wanted to export it.I saved it to a disk that I formatted on my PC (was that the mistake?), the I tried loading it into my 60. I got an ERROR message, saying of course, that the disk wasn't properly formatted. Now, I read where someone else had problems doing it the other way, by formatting the 60 disk first. So, I have no f_ckin' clue!
What I'm TRYING to do, one way or the other is, chop up my samples in SoundForge, and then load them into my 60. If I sample them the reg way, then I have to edit them all over again. don't really feel like doing that. My a3000 sampler has SCSI and I can just export the samples via SCSI from SoundForge to the a3000. I have the marion sys SCSI on my 60, but I don't think it does that, does it?
So, honestly, I'm not sure what I thought mpc-editor was gonna do. Does the 60 with 3.10 read wav.? Does mpc-editor convert wav. to snd.? Is there anything that can make it so, I only have to sample and edit once? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! MPC Editor and Win2000:

The problem is that Win2000 does not mount MPC60 formatted Zip disks. Older Windows system (for which the Editor was designed for) do not have a problem mounting MPC60/3000 disks. Microsoft used a stricter disk mouting system with Win2000 and XP.

There are a couple of alternatives and future plugin in the works:
1. Run a dual boot system wihn Win9x and newer OS
2. Run a dual boot system with Linux (free), however I am not sure if Linux will see NTFS partitions.
3. Run an instance of Win9x inside a vmware.com workstation inside a Win2000/XP.
4. Low-level edit of MPC disk to make it mountable, transfer and undo changes to make MPC see disk again.
5. A fix is in the works to make Windows mount the drive.
6. Use floppy.

im telling yall, just sample the hot signal into the 60. if you want to use mpc editor and recycle use a 2000XL.

I don't have a 60/3000 but I run winme and win2k on XP OS via vmware workstation. I've loaded a couple of my friends mpc60 floppy disks the exact way you described and worked just fine.
