SP-1200 samples into mpc 3000

the start/stop is ok. And if you're building a song, you will be doing that a lot. The stop is like a reset that begins the sequence clocks again and again. However, if you let the song play for say 10 minutes, without stopping it, the clocks drift (losing a timing pulse continuously at some small rate) and the songs are eventually noticeably out of sync.

Maybe it's my setup... a poor midi connect... I tried to fix it replacing cables and no go. Maybe I'll give another go soon. thanks for the response though.

The "clock drift over time" you're experiencing here is do with a "counting precision problem".

One device is missing a clock every "x" number of ticks.

MPC3000 as a MIDI clock master with the SP-1200 as a MIDI clock slave should not have this problem. ( if the SP is counting and responding to the incoming MIDI clock correctly )

SP as a MIDI clock master driving the MPC3000 as a MIDI clock slave ? Can't remember. ( won't be in front of an SP12 or SP1200 again for another couple of weeks to check it )

What results do you get either way ?

For me, SP master is ok.

SP slave is where the problem occurs. The problem is
more likely the SP than the MPC, IMHO.

Yep ... that makes sense.

SP is missing the clocks in a cumulative fashion over time.

Just as a point of reference, early versions of TR909 operating systems had similar faults.

Doesn't suprise me for one moment that the SP has a problem like this.

Are you running the most recent OS in your SP ?
