Since 96 and you've never done this? Wow. you really must have had fun with just the 3000!!!
OK, keyboard midi out to MPC midi in A , MPC midi out A to Motif Midi In.
In your MPC Midi screen, set soft thru to on, and set a track on the main screen from drum to midi, then to midi channel 1A, play your keys, hear motif. If you set up your motif multitibrally, you can use channels 2A-16A on different MPC tracks (if the motif is 16 parts Multi) for different sounds at the same time.

yeah 96 is a long time huh. well here's the story behind that. i haven't used it continuously since 96 because although i got started with the 3000 in 96, someone broke into my aprtment and stole it.
well 8 years later i bought another one although the 4000 and 2000xl's have emerged, and i still think it's (3000) an awsome machine. but the midi thing always ties me up especially after not using the concept in a while. so there you have it big guy.

You guys are confusing your Jay Dee for JD, JERMAINE DUPRI... Jay Dee aka Jay Dilla is the cat behind D'angelo, Erika Badu, Common, some A Tribe Called Quest, Frank N Dank, Pharcyde's second album, Slum Village's first two albums, some Roots joits, Jaylib, and a ton of other joints, and he uses the MPC 3000 not the 2000xl.
Street tested, Thug approved!

you seen the picture of it inside the jaylib album? not a good shot, but you can tell it's a 3000LE.
