Since you have a MPC 60 Mk1 you can try repairing the inverter yourself.
Unsolder the three points that attach the metal shield to the PCB.
Remove the shield. The capacitor inside likely needs to be replaced.
There is also a metal ring around the transformer inside that can be resecured (the tape that holds it on breaks down over time). If it is not secured the ring will vibrate.
Yes, the inverter from the S1000 (as well as the S1100 and S3000XL) will work inside your MPC 60.
