Simon knows whats up.
The title of the thread clearly states 'Researching', and research starts from a point of finding out what has already been said (secondary research) in order to assist and focus efforts to gain new material (primary research). A good analogy is to think of it like...sampling...to create something new and original.
Of course the credibilty of such a project would be greatly enhanced if Roger and other members of the development team made a contribution, that much is obvious. And I can't travel around to interview everyone, nor should I have to.
With a project like this the secondary research must be done first, before approaching certain people. Roger isn't going to provide a whole books worth of quotes and nor is anybody else. We need to find out as much as possible about everything.
FWIW I have done academic research projects at BA and MSc level. Although this is not an academic project the basic research principles are pretty much the same. So I have a pretty good idea of what type of information might be relevant to this book.
@daftmunk
The project would have to be self published, but first the book needs to be written. Without a manuscript you have nothing to publish. The main issues here are funding the project, those are the issues that caused problems delivering the SP1200 book. You have to pay up front for each print run, thats why they needed pre-orders to get the books out. Its hard to estimate the costs without knowing how many pages, how many photos, B&W or colour, size, paper quality, print method and distribution method. Like I said, it's a can of worms...
I am doing my homework, you can be sure of that.
