yo E , been to their website, pretty dope sh*t. Dust brothers are dope.

Yo, I HEARD that a korg 8 bit sampler was floating around campus, should I peep it? 8 BIT! dam, it sure does sound good

Sure why not, korg 8 bit might be interesting, I still think the W30 will take you further, it might even let you set the sample rate to 8 bit.

Elamacaco, yo whats up? I've been itching for a new, toy, think I found one maybe, want to run it by you. Its a KORG ELECTRIBE EA-1 synth module, no sampling ability(but so what). Homeboy is asking 120$. I figure it would mesh well with my beats, adding that extra bass. Ofcourse it has MIDI.
What do you think?

DJ Andreas -

sorry to hi jack your question, but thought I'd contribute my 2 kronas worth.

I bought the EA1 a few years ago for about 160 quid (maybe 80 dollars (??). I have found the general sound of the unit to be far too digital for my liking. It is not a *bad* sounding machine, but I believe that there are better bass machines out there. I found it very difficult to fit in a mix properly, not being able to get much solid bass from it - to my ears it is more "hollow" with no real umph or punch.

I know what you mean about itching for a new toy to play with... give it a go, it may be what you are looking for, but personally I think that there are far better bass modules out there on the second hand market. You may be able to pick up an old roland for about the same price, or even a FM synth from Yamaha, both of which will offer proper bottom end.

Like I always say - it's up to you, but I would DEFINATELY try it before you buy it... and if you do want one, I'll sell you mine for 100 dollars, but you pay shipping...

Dam, thanks again. Yo I set up the w30 last night and I seemed to fix the problem of why I was only hearing sound from one side, the cable was in the wrong place. Anyway, tonight I want to f*ck with it, like sample a simple loop and assign it to a key, save it etc...
Thanks again, in the last month you've saved me around 350$ in gear, not to mention I was gonna let go of the w30....whew!
good good lookin out, seriously, thanks!!!

the guy from Lamb (a great British band from the late 90s - now unfortunately a pile of poo) also used to use a W30 and swore by it.that and his emu sampler. Of course, now he uses software for his sounds and sequencing and surprise surprise, the music has lost it's edge.

or are my ears getting old?!? quite possibly... :)

Yup andreas that's the guy. the W30 is really dope.

Elmacaco, I just called up roland, they are sending me a system disk for the w30, free of charge. they said it should take around a week to reach me. Cool, Hopefully I can start saving sounds on my disks. Like a few days ago I sampled some sh*t, and while I was reaching for something I accidentally unplugged the w30, lost my sounds.
Anyway, Im pretty excited.

I have a few spare Roland cables, the power cables with only two prongs. If it's your cable that's dodgy, let me know and one of them is yours.
