Without insulting anyone, I feel this is kinda leading the wrong way...
After reading all the ish, I figured there would only be 1 solution that would satisfy me if i had a similar scenario infront of me.
Detail, don't rush yourself. The 3k and 60 will most likely not drop in value in the next month. Take your time, sit down and just USE these units seperately.
Use them alone, use each of 'em with a s950. Do whatever you think helps you explore the differences and most importantly the points that you value the most whilst using these machines. If you really cant decide, just put the 60 in the closet for a week or so,.. youll know if you'll want it back..
Don't pressure yourself by thinking : damn I neeeeed to make my mind up and get rid of one fast....
I was gonna post w/o taking a side this time but I have to dig up this comment made about the 3k being outdated:
First of all, this is a choice between 3k and 60 so this issue actually doesnt even belong into the discussion.
Second thing is, if you really used older machines I bet you would not just throw all mpc's in one drawer.
Perhaps thats just me, but I see a HUGE margin between the 60s/3ks & anything that came after these machines (not to mention roger linns part in the production of these dinos..)
Last thing I'd like to say about this is that I do know what functions I should be missing but I'm not missing them at all,... eventhough I work on "modern" mpcs frequently. A lot of what is considered the top of hiphop production still uses a 3000 these days. These ppl have a LOAD of machines & making beats is their JOB.
Don't you think somebody who really cares about their craft would try and evolve somehow? Don't you think there is a reason Swiss and vairous others still rock em eventhough they have the money and gift to do what ever they'd want?
Now I'm NOT mentioning this since I believe this is the greatest thing ever and that I, for some reason, need to convince everyone that they have to use it....
I'm mentioning this because the main point about being outdated is not the machine, its you. If you feel better on a 4k with a huge screen, perfect! But on the other hand, don't be enslaved by the "60 myth". Eventhough I don't own this machine I do know that it is probably the most standing out MPC EVER. Just take a second to think if you really love using the machine or if you love being a 60 head, because I know you sixtyaddicts are hard on that, jsut keep it in mind, detail

As we already agreed, when it comes to choice of gear there is only one right way: yours
I'm also supporter of the dont fix what isnt broken motto but I must say it is always good to be open and keep an eye out for new stuff.
I'd never thought I'd be wanting a post-2000 sampler ever untill I checked out the esx1...
So enough bla bla from my side, just let me wrap this up with one sentence:
Be yourself, outside info is always helpfull but dont let it twist your head.
Hope you make the decision you will be comfortable with and also that this post it not totally worthless & give you a more objective perspective on the subject, homie
