Converting .WAV samples to .SND samples

Sorry, he didn't and he was actually referring to floppies.

The mixup was likely:

I was under the mistaken assumption that you were referring to my post about Zips.

I have been converting files successfully for several months . But that came with some pain. Below is what will work

1.Use a PC with Windows 95,98 or 98SE.
2. Goto a DOS prompt and Format a floppy as a 720k.
Use the command.... format a: /f:720
3. Use Awave version 6.2 and convert the wavs to akai mpc Snd.
The batch conversion feature of the program will allow you to do several at one time.
4. Group the sounds in folders of 700K or less.
5. Copy the contents of a folder to a single floppy.
6. If you also have MPC Editor installed on a 95,98, or 98SE system as I do , you can map the sounds to pads and save the .pgm file to one of the floppies. When you load the disk with the .pgm file into the MPC 60 it will automatically map the sounds and ask you for the other disks.

But I am running Windows XP, wonder if it will work on that OS. Also do you have the 3.10 upgrade?

Yes in my MPC I have 3.10. The awave program may work in XP but you may still have problems formating the disk. MPC Editor has all kind of bugs for XP. The developer will probably fix. But I last checked in Sept
and there were still problems.

They already said that it only works if you have 3.10 I am still running the original OS I thinks it is like 2.02 or 2.12 or something like that. Thanks anyway.

hmm, one more time; is it working on os3.10 ONLY or can i do load edited SNDs and PGMs with os2.02? i have both XP & 98SE at the studio so formatting disks won't be a problem...

ps. though editing samples with MPC is painful, part of the secret to the sound is in the AD conversion of the machine itself...

There is no application in existence that will convert WAV to MPC60 2.x SND format.

I am not planning on writing one anytime soon.

hey i've just got a couple questions .... i've tried using wav2snd and i know all my waves are the right 16 bit pcm wav format but every time i try to convert my samples it just comes up sayin that they are the right kind of wav file and i was looking on the awave site and in the features where it says the types of files i can convert to the mpc snd format is only shown in awave studio and not awave audio so i'm wondering if awave audio will work before i order it because i don't wanna pay an extra 100 bucks for shit i don't need on awave studio .... any ideas and thanks for your time

Sorry, I did not follow that. If it says they are the right kind, then what is the problem? If they are NOT the right kind but you think they are, how are you verifying this? Have you checked them in an audio editor or any of the free tools out there?

I was trying to follow also and I got lost between the lines.

oh and i think i know they're the right kind because i save all my wav in 16 bit windows pcm format ....... is there anything else i need to know

Anybody know of a aiff to .snd file format converter application for Mac or PC, (or Both) ?
