Inverter Questions

I ordered one of those USB inverters.. hopefully it solves the noise issue. sometimes its very annoying. it only cost me $6 shipping included.

I bought one of those Nichia inverters supposedly brand new from VST on Ebay, I guess they got a few in stock. they sold out quick.

I discovered when i received it that my older inverter (like the one in the video) is not built the same and the new Nichia inverter wouldn't just fit on the older circuit board.. i decided not to bother installing it. I'll just save it for my 3k

They are a good little find. My order has just turned up, so when I get a spare hour this week will be sticking one in my 3000. Will stick some piccies up once I do.

I spent a little time looking into the nichia ones, but it seemed more hassle than it was worth. Doesn't seem to be any substantial info on those particular inverters anywhere.

So for the first time i connect my 60II to the studio mixer/monitors..
I hear this noise coming out from the outputs, similar to the same present in the power supply.

I'm not sure if the use of a power stepdown can contribute to this noise, but something makes me believe it does.

Ps.: I am waiting for the replacing inverter suggested a few posts above, and also for a USB floppy emulator. If i manage to make this thing work properly, i will post some photos/videos of the process.

Been doing a few tests more..
Another issue is the heavy noise coming out of the outputs - It get's worst when i hit a pad, after a few seconds, it gets back the the inicial hum..

Any ideas?

hmm.. who knows... if the machine is left on for a while (maybe a half hour or an hour) does it still do it as bad?

maybe it needs a cleaning.. maybe some caps are old and dry...

New data about my noise issue:

The noise almost go away if i disconnect the audio cables from the Mpc, but, there's another one that became more louder on each pad pressing

This leads to a question - the cables i usually use, on my synths, etc, are unbalanced, should i try a balanced cable?

Any ideas about the noise i got when i press a pad?

More new data:

4 pads do not work.. The ones from the right (4, 8, 12, 16)

I read the mpc60 bible and saw some pics about cleaning the pad sensors. I did it, but the pads still bad.

Actually the sensors looks quite ok, except from the area around the connector:









Not sure if the problem can be in this sensors?
This thing is giving me a good fight, but i won't give up!

Edit: after cleaning the pad sensors, i have another high pitch noise coming from the power supply

ahh.. what a pain in the ass...

worse comes to worse.. I think maybe the 3000 has the same sensor sheet at the mpd16? those can be had for like 40 bucks these days... and you get a bonus set of black pads with them.

I believe the sensor sheet works in the 2000xl.. if that is the same sensor sheet as the 3k you should be good but I have not tried it so maybe look into it first.



terrible... good luck with the inverter. Maybe you need to look at the caps and stuff on the psu
