yeah the sp-1200 isnt for everybody, but the interface is really well designed. Some features are unparalleled to this day.

I am pretty sure that you guys love that machine. If people loved them more, maybe Emu/Ensoniq would be still making hardware

If I really cared about the sound of the 909, I would just get a 909 :D But sampling a 909 or any other drum sound into my MPC 25000..I am more than satisfied..I was satisfied with the MPC 3000 and 2000/2000XL as well.

3001, now you got ne curious....what mixer or AD/DA converters are you using to get your music to tape or your DAW?
As far as the latest generation of MPCs and their methods of getting around on one...not only is it fast and easy...most of the features can be understood my a 10 year old. No manual is really needed for basic functions. Yes, I owned a SP1200. Even with years of experience of all types of gear, it wasn't that easy..though I am sure if I spent time with it..it would have gotten easier. But every MPC I have ever touched (with the exception of the 4000) was easy to set-up and start creating music as soon as they are turned on.

elmacaco, what features are unparalleled to this day? If you say filters or AD/DA converters, I am going to throw up my holiday meals.

You should know me better than that jahrome

And having had an SP-1200, you might know what is unparalelled as far as design. the ASR 10 also has many uparalleled features.

but with the SP, It really comes down to the slider interface, the multipitch option shyts all over 16 levels, the faders as a mixer for realtime playing of the beat, having a course and fine start point and end point sliders right at your fingertips, it's really an ergonomic dream. A fantastic way to intgrate an analog interface without clutter or confusion.

Now I can understand people not understanding the emu design now, back then they were really taking a lot from the Linn 9000 whch was all there really was at the time, and they improved upon the concept. my emax took me a year to really understand to the point I could dive in really well, Emu speak is a different language. but once you get the machine it is unbelievable, and I am hardly a sp 1200 expert, I'm just big on interface and instrument design, and i speak emu so it helps.

the MPC's are pretty idiot proof for the basics, that's partly because they have become the standard, if emu had akai's sampler success we might be singing a different tune, talking about segments ;)

but if the MPC was loved so much, maybe your precious akai pro wouldn't have filed for bankruptcy this month?

emu did remake the sp1200...

and the reason why they didnt' continue i believe were the filter chips, no? they're not easy to find!

btw i heard that 2500 is pretty buggy, how those bugs treatin ya?:o

also being easy to understand and being a joy to use are two differnt things!:-)

i never used the 2500 to be honest, but i owned a 1000 for a bit, and i'd say that i'd rather work with a computer than a 1000...**** annoying litlte shit that thing is...

Honestly...I don't really care how well these businesses are doing as long as I have a product that will be supported until the kinks/bugs are fixed. As far as Akai, I don't know the story behind their company..but here in the forums, and what a little bird told me..the guy/corporation owns Numark and Alesis, has purchased Akai Professional. True/false? Akai Pro Japan has stated on their website that Pro Audio Japan is now in effect and that Akai Professional, Akai Digital, Numark, and Alesis fall under it. I know nothing more than this.

The MPC 2500 is on its first OS and yes it have some bugs (as did almost every MPC and the MV upon initial release). A software update is in the works. But I purchased the MPC 2500 fully knowing that it could have problems.

As far as the SP 1200, the features that is has are not mind blowing and would perfer any MPC over it...that is the truth. The SP 1200 was the remake of the SP12..and years later they re-issued the SP 1200 for a spell than fell off the face of the earth. Emu could have went with different chips :D

if they went for different chips then it wouldn' be an sp1200...

mindblowing features aren't really useful. what are useful are features that are practical. Tahts' why the mpc line was always killer. it's no frills, everything you need, nothing you don't.

the rs7000 is filled with tons of useless features....;o makes everythign cumbersome...

OK, enough justifications around the 2500, preference is one thing, design is another. You obviously don't think to deep on these things so why you want to talk to those of us who do is a little bizarre.

You brought up the business thing with emu and yet you get all squirly when I bring up akai's recent bankruptcy.

I pointed out an untouched feature of the sp-1200 and you just say you prefer any MPC, well you asked and if you cant talk about features but just want to be defensive then do it elsewhere.

DO you even know what chips we are talking about? They are legendary and not because of the sp-1200. Emu could have went with different chips? EMU DESIGNED AND BUILT THOSE CHIPS!!!!

Please stop talking about what you know nothing about.
