MPC 3000 SCSI Kit for internal & external ZIP/Card reader *F

Hi, yes i tried that it comes up with a strange error message. Says something like this function is not implemented on all 3 cards..

Did you try both Hardware low level format, and Software low level format, on all 3 cards?

Are all your CF cards 133x and under?
Apparently, the MPC 3000 supports no higher than 20mb/s SCSI speeds. The Acard 7720U supports up to 20mb/s. 133x CF card speed is about 20mb/s.

I have a Sandisk Ultra 30mb/s which isn't stable at all so I don't use it but my 1GB Jessops and 1GB Kingston Ultra 100x work fine.

I'm not guaranteeing that all CF cards of 133x and under will work though. I have a Kingston 1GB with the flower on the front which doesn't work at all.

I have tested rev 6.89, 3.88 & 3.89 on my Acard 7720U and the only difference I have found from rev 3.45 is that they allow me to see the Sandisk Utra 30mb/s card.... but it it too unstable to use anyway.

You could be right, may be the CF disk. One of the three i try is the sandisk ultra something that a lot dudes use and i can only assume t should work.

Have now ordered the delock hot swap with grey bezel, story continues unfortunately.

Will report back then the reader gets here.

Obvious, but be careful buying CF cards from eBay.
I normally would never dream of buying CF cards from eBay, but have you tried to find a new 1GB or even 2GB, compatible, CF card from a reputable shop lately?

I just bought a "new Genuine" Kingston 1GB Elite Pro 133X that was faker than FAKE.
Serial number on front rubbed off. The packaging wasn't sealed; it had a plastic flap thing on the front.
Purple holograph arrow missing - was just painted flat brown.
Did a speed test and it was 4MB/s write and 12.7MByes/s read. For a 133X card that's a joke.
Total waste of time.

Where can i get compatible cards?

Installed DeLock 91640 formatted and now its working.

Word of advise: Do not buy any other CF Drive than DeLock 91640

It may have been the revision of my ACARD, maybe the firmware. I have tried 2 other IDE Card incl. Addonics (non Pro) and Startech.

Hi guys. Thanks a lot for the lengthy conversation here. Very helpful. I am the owner of a 3000 with 3.11. Looking for an internal storage at the moment. But would also be willing to put the Delock in an external case and plug it on the SCSI at the back if that is possible anyhow.

1. question. Is there any other SCSI/IDE Bridge available (besides this ACARD) that i can use together with the Delock?
2. There is no other Car Reader that directly works with SCSI?
3. As i have tried reading all the other threads in search of another solution... there is none that is working as stable as this Delock, right? Also the USB/Floppy Emulator stuff seems to be working with the 60 but not with the 3000.

any help appreciated.

I have a Delock + Acard in both my MPC 3000 and S1000 and they working amazingly!
I also fitted the combo in another MPC 3000 for someone else.

1. That's the million dollar question and the reason that the Acard's cost £100 or more. If you find another SCSI-IDE bridge that works then please let us all know.

2. Lot's of CF readers works with SCSI assuming you have a SCSI-IDE bridge (Acard) but I only know of one that is hot-swappable, the Delock 91640. I've not extensively tested many myself though, I'm just going on word of mouth, a lot of forum research and PM's, etc, etc. If anyone has found another hotswappable CF reader then they are keeping quiet about it. The Delock aint too expensive though so might as well just get that.

Solutions with built-in SCSI-IDE bridges from "Artmix" on eBay also work, such as the Aztecmonster, but they are not hotswappable.

3. Even if you could get the floppy emulator working it's no substitute for the speed and storage of a SCSI hard drive.

Note: Certain Acard firmwares do not work with certain CF cards. I found firmware 3.85 to work the best with Sandisk 1/2Gig cards using Vailixi.
I haven't done any testing with OS 3.11.
Getting the correct CF cards is the biggest hurdle to overcome once you have the hardware.

i have ordered the Delock yesterday and have found a CompactFlash * 1 GB * SanDisk * Extreme III that is supposed to be working...

but when i saw this USB/Floppy combination i felt tempted. but as you said it is probably damn slow, on the other hand also about 150$ cheaper.

If you have your MPC3000's memory full or close to it, then it will take ages to save that amount of data to a floppy emulator. Like you'll have to save in 23 chunks of 1.44mb. (well 22 chunks of 1.44 and then the remainder).
And then you have to reload those 23 chunks to get your song back.

I'd rather just pay the extra

what else do i need?
- 1x SCSI II / SCSI I HDD Cable
- 1x DB25 Male to Male gender changer
- 1x male floppy power to 2 x female floppy power cable

will i also need a DB25-IDC50 adapter or is that already in the machine (have not opened it yet)?

looks like the hard part is to get a "SCSI I Adapter, Slot bracket, external/internal, DB25 female <> IDCS50 male" somewhere inside Europe.

You will need adapters to split the internal floppy power connector out to both a floppy power connector, for the Acard, and a 4 pin Molex (hard drive type power connector) for the Delock.
