The point is how many mint or good condition 60's are left?
How many of these remaining machines have expanded memory, SCSI, OS 3.10?
How many 60's go to the scrapheap each year or are parted out for spares??
How many 60's are hidden in lofts and basements, largely forgotten?
The answers will be different depending which continent you are on.
I've probably bought 7 or 8 MPC60's in the last 18 months and none of the sellers were actually using them. Most had moved to software, or needed to free up some cash, or used to make beats back in the 90's. Most were in pretty good condition, needing maybe a new backlight or a floppy drive, nothing major at all. Three of the 60's came in flightcases which is usually a good sign.
I had to part one out due to faulty OS chips. It was a Mk1 and every single part sold except the midi PCB. Knobs, buttons, side panels, armrest, memory upgrade, casing, floppy, screen, slider, SCSI board, output PCB, everything. Brought in £800 and parts shipped to US, Japan, France and UK.
Sadly, damaged/ faulty machines do have to be parted out to keep others alive. If you can afford the luxury, keep one to use for spares even if it doesnt look pretty...
