i used MpcPrgMaker to make mpc 3000 prg under mac os x

i know the limit of 16 mega
sometimes however happens that the prg can't be loaded and it appear an error that say something like

Sorry this file (or possibly the entire disk) contains damaged data....

i use a usb 250 zip connected to g5

a 100 scsi zip connect to the mpc3000

any workaround? i read it could be for sure the MpcPrgMaker, but this doesn't happen whit all the prg... i suspect it could be the fact i used a 250 zip to save that in some ways could not write as a 100 one
or just a problem of format zip (i don't have infact Vailixi 3.5 but the regular os 3.11) and so i can't format in Hybrid Partition

anyone experience the same problem ?

tnx

yeah think could be

one strange thing is that if i retry to save the prg the mistaken files change... for example first attempt there were 3 damaged files, if i delete them and skip them all ok...

second attempt the damaged files were differents, so it's only a random error, probably due to the 250 zip writing on a 100 disk

anybody here know if with new 3.5 and hybrid format this error remain?

I broke open an F-d up ZIP disc to see what the guts look like- and was not surprised when I discovered the 'disc' material is some flimsy stuff that resembles camera film, but much thinner- can't believe I was trusting bits of my soul on this crud- backup, backup backup backup or switch to card reader- even then backup some more!

Funny how ZIPs used to cost up to $30 at the store now you couldn't sell a whole box for a buck

Not true! Go on fleaBay and you'll see several folks reselling 10-year-old SCSI zip drives for $75 or even $100 ... and getting people to pay that!

There is a guy there who calls himself scsi4samplers (we have no affiliation with him at all, btw) who regularly sells zip drives for over $100.

There is one born every second...

today a friend of mine will give me a 100 usb zip reader in order to test what's wrong, to see if it is a 250/100 zip problem
however i think it could be due to the akay partition made under akai, infact i can see only 1 partition under mac os x... and no way to see all.... even cd extract doesnt' take care of zip disc....

i think i'll give you a shot for a pcb reader if all fail....
let's see...

ok it's the same, i change both zip reader, make all the changes possibly and always some error

to be sure is not i read a 15,8 mega snd file and it works ok... so i think it's the program and/or the partition

infact from the website of the author of MpcPgmMaker i find this text

"
For MPC3000 & MPC2000(NON-XL) Users
MpcPgmMaker creates both 2000 & 3000 format ".pgm" file, but you still need a way to transfer it from mac to mpc. It seems many non-xl & 3000 user are having problem about it especially under osx. I don't have much information about this problem yet. So, please test the program with your systems carefully before you actually register with this program.

No card reader here, and its working fine. Try a different disk, or do a search...I typed 'MpCpgmaker and Vailixi' and got 15,000 results back. The process has been repeatedly spelled out by Vets on this forum.

bad news to my side

sometimes it has problem save files on zip, sometimes it works
i check the f901 fuse with a multimeter in continuity check mode and it seems ok (and the connection is closed so should be ok)

really dunno what can i do if not ask for a local service repair

UPDATE

i find a way that works

i connect the scsi out from mpc to scsi in of the zip, set to n.5 and termintion OFF

then i connect the zip to a cd-rom, set to n.6 and termination ON

in this way all work perfect, even the MpcPrgMaker kit i've already made!!!

now what is this due to??
