Making MPC floppy on a Mac

Just bought an MPC 60 MK II with OS 3. Downloaded some 808 beats off of the Roger Linn website. Copied the files onto an MPC formatted floppy disk using a floppy drive I just bought. My Mpc is telling me the files are corrupted and the file names don' t match what is there on the disk.
Did some research online and it looks like Macs may not be able to make Akai floppy disks. Is this true, am I out of luck? On the Roger Linn website it says my Akai drive might be dirty but the disk of drums made by the guy I bought it off work fine. Anybody have have any ideas? Thx.

do u have the right floppies dd/dd 750k...and your gonna need mpc editor to load sounds on a floppy

Right. Cuz nothing works better on a MAC, like a program made for Windows!

Yeah and make sure you use DD disk! lol

Thx for the input y' all. Pretty sure I have the right disks, the MPC came with 9 brand new looking disks and 1 disk of drums, on the same kind of floppy, that the owner made me. I'm going to try and find a floppy disk cleaning kit and start from there. Some the posts I went thru seem to match cleaning or a worn- out drive as a probable cause. I will have a look around for an MPC Editor thingy for Mac as well. Thx everybody.

hello! hooray i have my first awnser for some one ( im now 5 days into my mpc life) to make a floppy for your mpc on a mac you can download a program which simplifies everything. it has an image of your mpc pads which you drag your samples on to. once they are on you go through your options and make sure you change the output from wav to snd. as early mpcs only play snd files

click make disk and it will make you a folder
you save onto your external floppy disk drive and your almost done.

IMPORTANT: when you save the files for some reason it puts them in a folder go into this folder copy the pgm file and all the snd files ( all the files) then paste them on the same disk and delete the folder. then and only then will it work in your mpc.

also remeber a floppy disk is only 1.44mb avoid loops/big loops

now does anybody know how i can assign sequances/tracks to pads? and play/mute them

U aint say wut MPC u got, but no track mutes via pads on MPC60/3000

Cuz, u have the 'folder' tab highlighted. Un-click it, problem solved - no more copy/paste.

Open window on the Track:ON/OFF tab in Main Screen.
