I think the disk drive on my s950 just died. When I press the disk button it doesn't go to the disk menu and just freezes on the screen im currently on. If the drive is broken can I replace it with the floppy in my 60 II or do I need a different one? Thanks.

I've also got a S950 which needs a floppy drive so if anyone out there can help it would be much appreciated.

I know people have found compatible drives for the S900 but I haven't come across anyone
who's found one for the S950.

I'm sure someone out there's got a solution...

Call VST they have the drive you need and the correct jumper settings.Be warned they are a tad bit more expensive than just buying one from say a computer store but you won't wind up beating your head against a wall trying to find a drive/jumper settings that work.

Does 950 work if the floppy is broken?
Can I still resample stuff with it to get that sweet sound if some day (hopefully not soon) my floppy breaks?

I know a few people that use S900/S950 units just to send a signal through them to get that classic analog sound.

You mean that classic digital sound.

Edit: I just realised, it's got an analogue filter... my bad :P
I guess it's the sound of crunchy digital 12-bit married with an analogue filter then.

I want one!

Same thing happened with my 60II. I need a floppy. I have the SCSI option, so I'm going to use my Jaz drive. It's 1 gig, though!

Yeah! You ain't lying. I had one drive that ate up the teeth on the Jaz disk and the Jaz drive no longer works. I had some sh$t on the disk that I just lost.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR.
BACK IT UP!!!!

The replacement floppy drive is a Teac FD-235HF. Search for it in the 60/3000 Forum. There is a piture of the drive that came from VST.

Be careful on replacement drives because i had one with that exact part number that did not end up working. I still have it though just incase it was another problem in my s900
