MPC 3k Fantom G prob.

Hope anybody got the same couple and give me some help about syncn them.

I think it isn actually syncn..i just want my 3k as master in which i could record my midi data from the fantom keys and when press play on mpc it plays back correct patch from fantom g.

so i want the fantom to be my sound module but still want to record in mpc using the fantom keys
Dont know if its relevant but the 3k runs vailixi 3.50 OS

Hope someone can help me out here im getting mad about that ish

same thing i was trying to do with the fantom x8. i can't figure out the setting so i kinda give up for now. good luck-works perfect with my motif es6

"Syncn" them ... you mean connecting them.

Syncing them would imply locking the sequencer of one to the other for the purpose of synchronized playback or recording...

You don't mean "syncn" ... you mean connecting for the purpose of triggering.

Set FANTOM to LOCAL OFF.

Connect FANTOM MIDI OUT to MIDI IN A or B of the MPC3000.

Connect MPC3000 MIDI output A, B, C or D to the FANTOM MIDI IN.

Select the MPC3000 main screen track type as MIDI and set PORT/CHANEL accordingly.

Select PGM 0-127 from the MPC3000 main screen.

For more information concerning selecting patches higher than 127 in number.

Irrelevant as Vailixi 3.50 is no different to other AKAI MPC3000 OS versions where selecting external PGM via MIDI is concerned.

lil bit complicated with that "more than 127 patches" thing but i think i can handle it too .

i loaded me an patch script for the fantom g...

in the 3k where do i have to type that data in??

Ive read so much threads about that ish that now im totally mad -.-

A patch script intended to be loaded into what; and from where was this patch script obtained ?

I don't think the patch script is going to be of much help to you in this regard.

MIDI implementation guide for the Fantom G.
Section covering types of bank messages received.
Bank changes will have to be inserted within the MPC3000 step editor.

how can you hear the fantom sounds with
local off?

turning local off doesnt turn off the internal sound generator

edit: i just saw u figured it out in the other post

It did when i turned it off on this x8. It's a friend of mines and is in great shape so i don't think anythings wrong with it. I can't figure out why it won't send midi out notes/messages. Did get the other prob sorted though. Thanks Duke

What happens when you turn the Local Off on a keyboard is it makes the MIDI data become MPC dependent.
This means that the MIDI channel setting for each MPC channel determines what MIDI info is sent to the keyboard instead of going directly from the keys to the internal sounds of the keyboard.
The reason for this is with the local ON you will get sounds played with a doubling effect because they are being triggered directly as well as from the MPC.

You also have to remember that the Fantom has different modes (as does the Motif and Triton family) that determines if it plays just a single sound or is multi-timberal.
When it's multi-timberal the default is typically MIDI channel 1-2-3-4-........16 for each of the sounds.
So a MPC channel outputting to MIDI channel 1 would play sound 1, MIDI channel 2 would play sound 2..................etc.

what happens when i turn local off is that the SOUND is turned off. I don't know why or if that's suppose to happen. I did figure out the multitimbral situation but haven't got it to send midi-just recieve. I tried to sync them so the x8 would be master to see if it would sync to the mpc with no luck. So maybe the midi out port is shot some how???. Maybe i'm overlooking the right setting.
