Midi 3? Is this a external add on or something I don't have internal?

The ME35t is a Trigger Interface. Its a Audio to MIDI "converter".
You can put drum triggers to its inputs and use a real drumset (or anything :)) to trigger a MIDI note and control a soundmodul or sampler or any other MIDI device.
It should also work with any audio signal, so if you connect a microphone to an input and do some noise the a MIDI note will be triggered.
But dont get it wrong. It does not analyze the audio you put in thru the mic. It simply react on the amplitude of the signal not on pitch or anything else. Simple as "if audiosignal = yes, then trigger MIDI Note XY" ;)

There is also an interface to put into the s900. It does the same. I think its called ASK90 or something like that.

Oh and to anwer your question. This is an external device :)

peace
