editing on a mpc60mk1

I'm about to buy a mpc60mk1 due to the 12bit sampling for the crunchy, vintage sound. I own an 2kxl and it's butter. The editing tools on it are dope. I'm worried about trimming sound samples on the 60. Can you still trim, cut and stretch on the 60?

You can't stretch.

Triming and cutting are possible, but you don't get a waveform display, you use numbers. It might seem slow at first, but you get to know the numbers and you can usually dial in a very colse approximation.

You need OS 3.10 for cut and paste tho.

I actually enjoy trimming on the 60 more than I do on a PC.

you can reverse when editing by choosing "reverse zone" in the sample edit screen, but u cant reverse during playback..

im having some problems assingning my samples to programs, ill assign it, but i cant hear the sample when i play press the pad, although if i have it recording the sequence, it will play the sample back after its been recorded, but i cant hear anything when i play.. anyone know whats going on

hmm... more details please. What have you set up and tried as far as solving it?

I really don't want to work blindly. Maybe local off? do you have your tracks set to drum and midi channel off? you have the stereo outs hooked up right?

try to make a new program and see if it happens there.

As far as I know, no mpc can reverse in real time.

yeah local was off, and the ON/OFF was set to OFF beside the DRUM/MIDI option in the main page

what is the differance between DRUM and MIDI, internal/external ?
channel ?

Yup, drum is internal if you don't assign a midi channel to that track, if you leave it on drum and assign a midi channel to the track, then the pads trigger external modules as well as the internal samples (unless you turn local off as well, best way to do that). Midi is external signal mode.

do u know the best way to sync it with cubase, if i want to use my mpc for a drum track but sequence all my keys in cubase, is this tough/possible ?

easy, slave mpc to midi clock.

so thats under the midi screen, and i just have a midi in to the mpc, from any out on my midi interface ?

is there a start/stop message i need to send or will it automatically pick up when i start cubase ?

you need to set cubase to send clock on the out of your interface, and set the mpc to receive external sync.

You should take a peek at the manuals for these, it really helps!
