Hi everyone,
i was asking myself if someone has tips to improve the sync between the 3K and logic.
Here is all good and bad points i have met:
When Logic is master and the MPC slave:
-Using Midi Clock with Song Pointer ON:
The MPC plays in sync instantly with logic, and loop mode works also if both the MPC and logic are in this mode. This could have been the perfect mode, but there is one problem: the MPC is VERY VERY capricious if when you press play in logic the song pointer is not at the beginning of a bar (9 1 1 1 by example). Either it doesn't play, or it plays at a wrong and extremely low tempo, or it plays with the good tempo but with delay so not synchronously. it means that it's not really possible to drop the song pointer in logic's timeline anywhere and launch playback, most of the time it won't work properly.
-Using Midi Time Code 30fps:
The song pointer can be dropped anywhere in the timeline of logic, the MPC always plays in sync if the same speed is set for both.
Problem: The MPC begins to play only one beat (1/4 note) later, not instantly. Loop mode doesn't work as the mpc doesn't loop on time with logic and takes delay at each return.
When the MPC is master and logic slave:
Midi clock is not available. Only MTC and same problem here, Logic plays synchronously but not instantly. It begins to play one beat (1/4 note) later. What give you a pleasant cut and click in the audio if you are listening to the tape return from logic lol. Loop doesn't work at all.
Also, as MTC is a huge amount of data, it requires to use one midi out port only for it.
I use most of the time logic as master with MTC. I would like to know if someone knows how to make the MPC playback begin faster, without lose one beat.
Or, if MIDI CLOCK is used, how to make the MPC play from anywhere you drop the song pointer in logic, it would be the best sync mode !
