This won't fix the backlight, just the LCD display. If your issue is a dim display -- then you'll need to change the backlight.

If it's the LCD, do yourself a favor and save some money and pick up a sampler like a S1000, S1000PB, S1100, S2800, S3000 or S3200 or S3200XL for cheap off eBay-- these share the same LCDs as the MPC 60 and MPC 3000 so you'll save a bit of money by just taking it out of the sampler. You can usually score one of these samplers for half the price of a new OEM LCD. S1000PB is probably the cheapest one out of the whole bunch under $100 -- but you can sometimes snag S2800s and S3200s cheap too.

Plus you can get some nice extra parts as well like inverters, knobs, etc... :D

its important to know that the display on the mpc 60 mk1 is different from the display on the mpc60 mk2. the mk2 has a much smaller display, and most of the replacements ive seen around in stores are this kind. they can be retrofit to work on the mpc60mk1, but it is much smaller than the original and requires some modification.
make sure you dont just need a new backlight. after squinting at all the tiny displays on samplers, its nice to have a big one on the mk1 and you dont want to retrofit it if at all possible.
