Hi,

I've just finished a session with the MPC3K. Towards the end it it started glitching out while playing sequences. It sounds like the sound is dropping out, degrading, and then returning to normal. I did sample some stuff with some clipping but not something that would cause such a noise. At first I thought my DAW was overloading but it didn't.

Is my RAM dying?

Rohan, are you reading this? ???

Any ideas as to what is causing this? Before this started I noticed an anomaly when sampling in high levels (beyond the clip indicator level). The sample played back in a strange way, but not all the time. Also, I think that when I lowered the output volume the degrading and glitching went away, but I'm not sure. My DAW didn't give me any overload errors so I'm pretty sure the MPC is making these sounds.

Help my MPC!

Not sure...I always try to sample below clipping...wouldn't that distort the sound and add extra unwanted elements?

I've double checked the clipping issue and it's definitely not it. I sampled some drums and was very careful not to clip. When I sequenced them it started making the noises after a few minutes. Again, degraded, like a bit crusher, fading out and returning. Sometimes loud pops as well.

What is this? Do I need new RAM or what?

Hasn't anyone ever experience something like this? Don't be shy.

I certainly am ...

For the forum community at large reading this thread.

In simple.

The MPC3000 of Flextone is one from the 1994 manufacturing run.

IE: One of the first.

Electronics components can fail over time.

In particular, power supply distribution related components.

The affect of these failures can cause all sorts of weird issues and possible further component failure.

A series of diagnosis is being performed via email.

The results of these diagnosis and any subsequent repairs required will no doubt be shared with this forum ...... in time.

I am certain of that.

Thanks

Rohan.

I hoped this would only be a RAM issue.
I'll contact a technician and let you guys know the score.

Rohan, let me take this opportunity to thank you one more time for your efforts. Nice people are a rare commodity these days.

Problem solved. The culprit was my audio interface and not the MPC, and nobody feels more stupid then I do.

Sorry for wasting everybody's time, especially you Rohan.

Happy Hanuka :)

Sorry, my English is not the best, but I havee a problem like this.

I sample a loop with 45 rpm in my MPC 3k. In the trim menu I pitch it down on -80. Then I trigger the sample on a 2 bar sequence. The poly is on mono.

When I play the sequence in a loop, it sounds sometimes the sample runs through a filter. This phenomenon is irregular. Sometimes the mpc repeat the sequence and it happens and another time the sequncer runs ten times.

What do you mean by "the sequencer runs ten times"? It either plays or it doesn't. If you hit a pad to play a loop, the loop will play until it ends unless you tell the sample to play until release where it will only play as long as you press the pad. Could it be you programmed several pad hits throughout the sequence and the loop plays all the way on each pad hit?

Your problem is actually very different from mine.

a little draft to show my problem. but its unstady. i want record the problem in the next days.

example:

|--------| = 2 bar loop
ok = sounds normal
filter = sounds filter

|ok------|ok-----|filter--|ok------|ok-----|ok-----|filter--|ok-----|--------|ok-----|ok-----|
