Hi everybody!
I've bought an ASR10 rack to mix the 60 sound with the ASR one.
I've plugged all midi cable to sequence the asr sound in the mpc sequencer.
It works but i've got a problem: i don't have the awesome velocity of the MPC pad
when i play ASR sample with the MPC pad. Is it possible to have the same velocity on mpc sample AND Asr one?
I suppose there is something i must touch on the asr but i dont' know what parameters.
In fact, the sample is full velocity when i play it, there's no nuances...
I hope u understand my poor english!;-)

Thank you!

Good question. I have the same setup but never actually used the velocity of the pads on the 60, only 16 levels.

Hi Kebzer,
Thanks for the compliment :D

So you only use the 16 level?
It helps you to do what sort of things?
I haven't use it yet (only with the mpc sample, not with asr one).
So when you sequence asr sample in mpc, you only use full velocity?

Thanks for your help!

I have an ASR Rack, W/ 60. Best thing to do is buy a MIDI keyboard and control the ASR via that. Much easier & straight foward & you'll be able to get your velocity on.

Hi SV1200!
Hmm yes it's a good option, but how can i plug a keyboard if the midi IN of asr is
already used by the cable of mpc midi OUT?
How can i sequence asr sample in mpc via the keyboard which is not plugged to mpc?

Thanks!

?
I don't understand Boxcutter,
if i plug like that, i just pilot the mpc sample, not asr sample?
What i try to find is using the incredible velocity of MPC pad with asr sounds...
and i don't know if it's possible!

Hook the Midi keyboard's Out, into the MIDI in of the 60. Then hook the ASR Rack Midi IN, into one of the 60's MIDI OUTS.

Make sure they are all playing audio out to you your mixer.

Then at the bottom of the 60 screen, change to whatever MIDI out you hooked up the ASR 10 to the 60 Example 1A, 1B. It depends one what Midi out you hooked it into.

Then you can use the Keyboard to play/sequence/use velocity on ASR sounds, internal 3000 sounds, and any other MIDI device sound module you want to hook up. You can switch to diff modules by changing what MIDI out your on (example: 1A-16A (ASR10) 1B-16B (plannetphat), etc... Make more sense?

PS: If you midi keybaord is a sound module too, like motif or microkorg, etc....) then you should hook the MIDI IN & OUTS both between 60 and keyboard. So you can sequence that badboy too.

read also here:

i have the 60 hooked up with my ASR Key-Version

its basicaly what SV1200 said

remember to use the DRUM definition for MPC sampe Tracks and the MIDI definition for the external Sounds

te thing you might oversee is that the MPC has 2 isolated Midi Ins and 4 outs...

in my scenario i have the "A" outs assigned to the ASR (8 Tracks) and the "B" outs to Logic (16 tracks")

so you gotta make a template (layout) for yourself wich has for example the first 8 tracks in your Sequence defined:
1A,2A,3A,4A etc etc and type: MIDI not DRUM

and like SV1200 said, you are recording your 8 ASR Tracks in the 60 sequencer.. that is what you want right?

Thank you guys for all those explanations!
In fact, when i used my setup, i've hooked MPC midi IN1 to ASR midi OUT and ASR Midi IN to MPC midi OUT1.
And i used DRUM tracks and not MIDI tracks, perhaps it was the source of my problem.
I sequenced ASR samples in DRUM tracks with the pads of my MPC but i haven't got velocity,
only full (127).
I must try your solutions, perhaps my velocity problem will be off.

i dont think so sorry... and the whole Drum / Midi Track definition is actually confusng me aswell, i had my setup completly running but right now i cant use the ASR keys for playing VST or analog Synth sounds... only the Pads... only when set to drums

so take my sum up with a grain of salt, as i am having issues aswell (just makes me very mad that i allready had it working)

however... i am sure you saw in your 60 in the MIDI section that setting Velocity Fixed or Normal... i didnt mess with that yet but maybe that has somethign to do with your issue?

hi!
I have plug my MIDI keyboard and the asr10 rack on the mpc,
and all works!
so i can play asr sounds and mpc sounds with the key,
but, finally, my real problem is: when i buy the asr rack i thought i
could trig asr sounds with the pads and have the mpc velocity and pad sensitivity
on asr sounds, but it can't.. i'm a bit disappointed cause i love making drums with pads,
dosing attacks. If i sequence asr drum (and other) sounds i have just full velocity, or if i choose "full velrange" in "Env3" i must stay on the note to have the entire sound (like "note off" pad style on mpc).
Arrghhh, i hope i will find a way to work with both cause it stops all my work since months!
