Just got a mpc60 mk1 !

AND I love it!. Giving the sp1200 a rest. Now I can get the full benefit of my s950(note on, keygroups)


I did pay a pretty penny for it though. $1,199 bucks from ebay seller "onkloud9". But its in excellent condition, scsi, 3.10 o.s, and expanded memory!

Do you think you overpaid? That is all that matters, sure it's a lot of money and probably on the higher end for a 60, but if it's worth it to you, and it works without issues, thats all that matters. Don't let anybody tell you different. Congrats on your purchase!

Can't really say you overpaid - if it's in perfect condition and you're happy about it then I'd say it was worth it.

On the other hand I got mine a lot cheaper with the same specs, around ~760 USD.. but I'd rather say that was cheap

Does it have the memory upgrade to 26 secs? Doesn't seem like dude mentioned anything about memory. Personally I think you overpaid, by quit a bit actually, but it doesn't really matter, as long as your happy. Which I think you'll be.

Not a bad price at all -- consider that the OS and SCSI upgrade runs around $450 by itself from Roger Linn, RAM when you can find it is $150, new backlight is around $30, and you got a suitcase of sample disks to boot. Plus it doesn't look as trashed as a lot of the 60s that end up on eBay.

That suitcase of disks has caught my attention -- anything of interest in there?

Thanks for the responses guys. Yeah it had the expanded memory. The first thing I did when I turned it on was went straight to the sample page and turned the dial it went to 26.2 seconds. Yes!

I actually told him I did not want the floppys, jus the MPC. Thats all that came.

I dont think I overpaid, but for a while mpc 60's and 3000's were going so cheap I felt like I moved in too slow. But fck it, I got the a nice 60 with all the upgrades.

Its not as lo-fi sounding as I thought it would be, But I love it.....

I have the record gain on the back set to "low'' and when Im in the sample screen Ihave the record level to about "90" to get a hot signal coming in. Does that sound right? OR should I put the switch on the back to "mid". I just want to know the which is better to minimize noise??

onkloud9's stuff is a bit pricey... but his stuff is pretty good quality too... i bought somthing from hima while back. Cant remember what though so i guess it hasnt given me a headache

I dont know... I just didnt want em.. I pulled the floppy out put a internal zip drive in, and put my spyrus compact flash dual slot drive inside the machine to act as a internal hard drive. Everythings working great. I just didnt see myself listening to each and everyone of those floppies to see what was on them.....

you could have flipped them and recouped like $100 - $150

Enjoy the super hard kicks and crunchy snares... I have the 3000 and NOTHING even compares to the sound of the 3000 and 60.... I was thinking about switching to Maschine but I just dont want to lose the punchiness and snap of the drums... these machines are crazy!! Akai needs to model their new MPCs to sound like these old ones!! The LinnDrum 2 should be REALLY, REALLY punchy and snappy since Roger Linn is the designer...

I understand how it feels to get your hands on such a legendary MPC, I wanted to do cartwheels when I got my 3K. Congrats bro!

I got my MPC60mkI really cheap. It was however beaten up and i still don't have the SCSI-board or the memory expansion, in retrospect i should have payed abit more and gotten a mint one.

It's a timeless machine, great purchase bro!
