i did finaly set up my midi assignments for the MPC 60 pads in chromatic order (starting with 35 up to 98 in the last bank last pad) both master and programm..

i dont know if its the same as before but i still have my ASR10 samples speard all over the 4 banks :/

its certainly saved into the system i did a PAR disk anyway... but that doesnt seem to be the issue

i got a mpc3000. on this machine the midi note assigment is saved in the *.aps format. when i start a new beat i insert a floppy with a file named params.aps - then i take my floppy out, work on the beat and save it on zip disc later. making a disk like this cost you maybe 30 minutes but it will save you hours.

additional information & question:

my params.aps assigns the a and b bank to the banks a,b,c,d on my sp1200 (so when i hit A1 on the MPC it plays A1 on the SP, B16 would be D8 on the SP). also the first 11 pads (A1-A11) trigger my 808 (808, hh, sd, toms, etc.) on a different midi channel (via the kenton interface my 808 is equipped with). pretty cool setup.

one problem i have, though: when the assignment ("TRACK DATA", "TYPE:") is to "DRUM" i can trigger the SP-1200 or the 808 via MPC pads. as long as i dont have mpc-samples on these pads everything is cool. but normally i also use the A bank first, then B, then C and so on (D). when i want to record some SP-Drums via MPC Pads also the internal sample assigned to this pad is played back. of course i could switch local mode off but this is quite uncomfortable.

on my 2000xl i could go to "MIDI". result: when i hit a pad, only the midi gear plays the sound it is supposed to play and the mpc remains quiet. when i switch "MIDI" on the mpc 3000 and hit a pad, only the internal sound is heard but not the SP/808/whatever. when i hit a note on my midi keyboard in "MIDI"-mode i only hear the SP/808/whatever depending on what channel is assigned to the active track. that means i can record my drums only via keyboard when samples are loaded on the MPC pads that trigger MIDI-drums.

knowing this i can work with it but its very uncomfortable in comparison to the 2000xl where i can trigger the SP/808/whatever via Pads without finding a more or less difficult work around.

long story short: i'm pretty sure that i know my 3000 and its possibilities. but maybe i'm just blind and y'all folks got a solution for this little annoying problem.

edit: so, hamburger also... na dann hätte ich dir mal besser ne pm geschrieben, mein geschriebenes englisch saugt hart.

hi,

like i said, the .PAR (Parameter file for 60) was done aswell, but tis also saved within the system... neither solves my issue.

anyone a clue?

i understood the midi assignment post (on page 2 in the mpc60 Bible) the way, that i ahould have common chromatic order now allready, since i dont load sounds on the half-notes on my ASR keys i would have expected to only have every 2nd Pad triggerig a sound.... allright... but i get like 6 pads nothing, than 2 pads something and 3 banks later some etc

messy

Are you sure the midi note assignment on your ASR is on point? Also, try switching LOCAL MODE -OFF-, from the midi menu.

yes i also think thats the best bet, cant be the mpc

afaik the ASR is all set up but i ll check those settings again.

Local mode i am99% sure is OFF
but what midi noe assignment in the ASR settings you r talkin about?

should i do a similar setting, a new number to each key like i did in the mpc, on the ASR ??? that d be new to me

never worked on the 60 but i guess you got to save the midi assignments in the *.aps format.

Try connecting a normal midi keyboard to the ASR and verify that it's really set totally chromatic and that nothing is wrong on that side..
