i did it on the 3000... same screen i think
do you have the mk2? or the reg?
if its reg, open the top up so it flips up...
undo the screws that mount the screen and its underplate to the chassis...
unscrew the back of the screen from the front
separate the lcd from the circuit board (the little tab things that stick thru from the lcd metal thinggy to the ground tabs on the circuit board)
this is the only really dicy part. id use a needlenose pliers to uniformly bend them all so they will slide thru easily, but still bend back to put it back together.
then, notice where the elfoil (backlight) has two tabs. (where you will solder them)
those go where the old ones go, front facing front etc.
as i remember , i folded the tabs to make them more narrow, and to make sure they didnt touch any of the circuit board... i think I also stuck something like a skinny piece of tape to make sure it didnt touch anything as well between the new BL and the board.
note: !!!!!
draw lines with marker or pen where the edges of the screen (the actual illuminated part starts and stops, both vertically and horizontally).
this will make you line the replacement one up in the same spot before soldering.
good luck.
use to have pics, think they are gone now.
