UK MPC users (need buying advice)

Hi,

Apoligies if this is in the wrong section, I'm looking to grab an MPC 60 when my pay comes in and they don't tend to pop up too often on ebay here in the UK, I keep checking ebay and most seem to be in america, I was wondering if any folk from the UK on here have bought from America and recieved everything fine, I've been looking at some of the stuff on beatboxpros and was wondering if anyone has dealt with them before and if they would recommend, I've already searched the forums and heard mixed things but I'm specifically wanting to know about anyone in the UK who's bought an MPC thats had to be shipped. I'm paranoid as hell to pay £700 when it could arrive in shit condition or worse completely scammed! Am i better off waiting for one to crop up in the UK?

I got mine here in the UK, but I bought my TC Studio Konnekt 48 from the US…
5 days later it has arrived (UPS or something like that), looking like it just came off the shelf…
I now it’s not what you asked for but I thought I mention it

I have an mpc60 for sale 1000euro, latest OS, two working floppydrives and the memory upgrade (not the the ghetto one) I know its pricey but thats what I paid for it if I take in acount the upgrades and searching for an extra floppydrive.

Im close enough to the UK im guessing, at least its in Europe.

I see MPC60's for sale all the time in the UK, for around £300.

They don't sell as well as the newer models for obvious reasons.

Set up an automatic search on ebay, so you'll know as soon as a new listing goes up.

Always attempt to close the deal privately with cash, to secure the prize. But keep safe!

Also look for gear on Gumtree.com (use the search tool to save yourself wading thru the many pages)

Another place to try is Cash Convertors, many have closed down but there are still a few around. If you go there NEVER pay the asking price for anything!! If you can pay cash, you are in control of the deal (or should be).

Also worth trying is Google. Just enter 'MPC60 for sale in the UK' or something similar, cant hurt to try...

Last but not least, scope the Sound On Sound magazine reader's ads which has a Drum Machines section.

I've just had a look and there are a few 60's available right now. SOS reader know their stuff, so prices tend to reflect that.

Oooups just gone!

I bought a MV-8000 off of eBay and had it shipped to England from New York. The only issue I did have was that it reeked of smoke (and I'm an ex-smoker) but it was dual voltage, packaged well, came with 2 Sample King's MV8000 tutorial DVD's and 6Gb's of samples and .mvo kits already on the internal HD.
Oh yeah... I had to pay the customs tax since it came from America and I can't remember how much it was but it wasn't cheap.

Not much ? I'm guessing your not on the dole Clint.
I have to agree that I hardly ever see them for around £300 and any that are need work.
They all seem more like £500 - $1000 depending on condition and upgrades.

@Gowansy. It's probably worth getting one from the UK so you have a UK power supply and don't need to deal with step down transformers or have it mod'd .

In all fairness, if ur on the dole you might want to use ur dole money to improve the quality of ur life and not spend it on 22 year old machines....

Or get a s950, their dirt cheap nowadays.

I used too do that but now we've got those crappy plastic wheelie bins. They sound horrible.
