Untight Mpc 3000

I just bought an mpc 3000. It sounded fine at the sellers place. But now it seems to have bit of a strange feel to the timing. Also when i time correct it to straight 16th notes. Any ideas what can cause this. Could it be voltage interference or could it be a malfunctioning crystal. ? Im not using any extarnel midi gear, and im using the factory sounddisk. The mpc has mantell labs software.

I would recommend resetting everything to Factory Defaults. I believe it's under the "Other" button.

Define "strange".

If you are using multiple sounds in a sequence and you apply the timing correction to move them all to straight 16ths as stated.

Then the "strange" timing experience may simply be the result of different sounds having not so well edited sample start positions.

Not likely to be a malfunctioning crystal.

Voltage interference ? Not likely.

It's possible that you're applying quantizing to only one track out of several in the sequence. This moves notes only on that track, hence "untight".

Also be sure that your samples are well trimmed. Quantize can't account for samples with silence in front of the main sound.
