usb port on my MPC3K?

Would it be possible to build an usb port into my MPC3000 so it can read USB sticks?
(..or better yet mount it onto my desktop)
I know it is possible to build-in a cardreader so i hope my question isn't that stupid

Now, that said- I am new to the 3000 but I'm 99.999999% sure that there would be some industrious person out there that would have done this already if it didn't entail completely rebuilding the architecture of the unit...

Can any of the regulars of this forum weigh in on this?

yeah the 3k can have wi-fi and blue tooth too! lol... maybe you could get a micro ATX mini computer with USB support to read USB sticks and hard wire that computer's audio outs to the audio in's of the mpc.... but the 3k on it's own cant do any of that.

Absolutely it can be done and it probably wouldn't even be all that hard for someone who knows the USB command set and SCSI command set. They'd also have to know the MPC3000 (or at least have access to documentation for the) implementation of the SCSI command set and any little quirks it has. Now someone with all that knowledge needs to decide to allocate 2-3 months or so of their time designing and building a device for which there is a small pool of customers and the device would have to sell for $200 or less.

Now you know why you will never see such a product hit the market. But there is good news - we have an inexpensive SCSI CF card reader drive that comes complete with 1GB CF card and MPC3000 installation kit for less than $200 and it is shipping NOW! So problem solved.
