3000LE SCSI to PC

Hey guys,

I have been looking for info on hooking the 3000le to the pc. I have only searched enough to where people are using the 2940 to connect to hd or zips but does anyone have a setup that can dump straight to the mpc from a pc/program? Please enlighten me, I only had experience in the 2kxl and rack versions with success but that was very long ago.

I have a 2940 scsi pci card, soundforge, recycle 2.0, mpc editor, and i want to know what i can do with that.

I used to do this with an S3000xl

I had the 2940 connected to the the ZIP drive.

ZIP drive to sampler

trouble is I used MESA and i don't think that will work with the mpc 3k.

from what I remember as long as you gave them all different SCSI id s you were ok, and FFS don't access the zip drive from your PC or Sampler at the same time. cause technically your not supposed to have 2 host devices but it does work.

Software wise I think soundforge might work. really can't remember the ins and outs of it.

The MPC3000 and MPC3000LE do not support SMDI, so a direct computer-to-sampler connection will not work. MESA does not support any MPC models, so that is out as well.

As far as I know, you will have to use an intermediary media, such as a zip disk or CF card. Your best bet is to buy either a SCSI card reader and a USB card reader; or if that is out of your price range, a SCSI zip and a USB zip. Use MPC Editor to format the zip disk or CF card - you will only get a single 30MB partition but that should be enough room for file transfers. Copy the files to be transfered to the media, then move the media to the SCSI drive and load the files into memory. Switch to a media that has been formatted by the MPC and save the programs containing the transferred files.

This is where it gets tricky for card reader drives. If you card reader is hot swappable, no problem. But if you have our CF-CARD drive, which is not hot swappable, changing media is a problem. Here is how to do it (do this at your own risk, as the CF card can get corrupted and require a reformat): pull the CF card you just used to load in the files and replace it with a CF card that has the normal 780MB format. Use the "Make Active" command to get the MPC to recognize the new CF card, then save the program and samples to it.

Ok thanks for the clarification. I think you pretty much summed all the options. No pc to mpc 3000 connection.
