HELPPPP.....no sound from my pads .....MPC-60 II os 3.10

I have my stereo out mix hooked up to my console. I also have all 8 outs hooked up and i'm assigning my drums to midi note numbers and pads. for some reason i'm not getting any sound. I've gone into drum mix and increased the volume of each pad but nothing.

Anybody proficient enough with the new OS 3.10 to give me some major assistance.

I also can't figure out why the kick drum I have set to PAD 2 note - 36/A02 and pad 4 are connected (pad 4 is kick drum - note = 36/A04)???? i'm pretty sure it has something to do with note assignments. I would like to know how to edit the pads assigned note as well.

The same shit happened to me. Don't save the program with all the midi note numbers **** up. Re load the old one. To change the midi note numbers need to be changed before you make the program. You need to set them up hopw you want them, then load the samples into the program. You can make a master layout and have all future programs be laid out in that way (I have them sequentially).

When you change the midi note number of a pad, it no longer corresponds to the sample that was on it, since the sample is assigned to the midi note number as well. If both note numbers match, then that pad plays the sample. if they are different, well then the same midi note will play it, but the pad no longer sends that midi note, but the one you changed it too.

What steps do I take then?

I sample a drum break. I extract the first sound file. Lets say it's a kick drum. I then name the sound file and then what....??

Should I > SOUNDS > (1) SELECT PROGRAM > ASSIGN NOTE corresponding to the pads? The whole midi name thing confuses me. I don't necessarily want to go by the inherent settings. I have my SNARE 01 on the GENERAL MIDI NAME FOR NOTE: Hi-Hat.

I would like my drums to be on the first bank (A) and pads 1-8 if that helps you help me any better.

you need to assign the midi notes to the pads before you assign any samples to them.

So you want snare on one but you want it's midi note to be 36, you change it first then assign the sample.

Better to lay the midi notes all out first, then sample and assign.

oops, yeah, prog, 1, tap the pad you want then scroll to the sample you want.

ignore the general midi names.

I already sampled everything. Can I alter the current configuration?

yup, take a blank program, change the midi notes on the pads, then assign the samples to the pads.
