Just got the 3K and love it but I cant figure out a couple things.

1. First Im use to being able to hit stop on the MPC 1K and the sample will stop to, but on the 3K the sample seems to have to play out to the end evrytime I hit it. Even when the beat is playing and I hit stop the drums stop, but the loop plays to the end? Is there a way around this? Its annoying when IM trying to record the sequence and having to re try the drum parts. I keep having to go to Sounds>edit sounds> stop play.

2. I cant figure out how to use the group mute,so when I hit one pad it cuts off what ever the other pad was playing. IN the 1K it was easyI tried under Program>2 and I see where it says cutooff. I tried to enter in the pad I want to cut it off,but the loops still over lap each other.

3. Does the 3K have effects like comp, reverb or EQ to boost bass in the sample? I dont see it. Do to need a extra card or do you guys dump it to DAW to do all that?

1. Try hitting stop twice or change the sample type to mono from poly.
2. Press Programs/Sounds key then select 2. Envel,veloc,tune.. then hit the pad with a sample on it. You will see on the right cut off: You select the pad that you want this pad to cut off. So when the pad your on is playing, then the pad you entered in the cut off field is pressed it will stop playing the 1st pad and play this pad. It's more tedious then the 1000 mute groups and you can only have one pad be cut off by 2 pads but you can definitely work around it.
3.It has a delay effect. I don't use the effects in the 3k I track out and edit in DAW or use the 3k to control battery where I can put effects there.

Download the manual and study it.

Try again.

If your pads to choke via each other are adjacent then they both need to point at each other.

EG for an open and closed hi hat.

A01 Closed Hat --- CUTOFF A02
A02 Open Hat. --- CUTOFF A01

The on board effect is a three tap delay.

Any other sound sweetening is done before sampling or in the post process when mixing or re-tracking for re-sampling purposes.
