What is wrong??

Hi! In the last few days when i try to sample something with my MPC 3k it sounds like the headphones are blown, the sample just sounds dis Have i torted and ruined, what is wrong?melted some sound chip inside my mpc or something? Plz help im getting paranoid lol! thanks alot

be more specific... how do u sample, whats ur gear, did it work before, did u change anything to ur setup, did it ever work.. etc.

I have an MPC 3000, i normally sample from my Technics 1210 through my Pro-ject RIAA step and into the MPC, but lately i havent found any new vinyls (I live in Norway and the selection of stores and such is a little limited), so i sample some off youtube, i know its something you shouldnt do but its just for the practice of chopping up samples etc.

When i do this i have a Minijack from my computers headphone exit and then into two stereo jacks wich goes into the sample input on the back of the MPC 3000, but lately the sound has been terrible when i go to the sample mode and listen to songs on youtube, it comes back all distorted and the bass is terrible, it wasnt like this before, it sounds like the headphones might have a defect but i have tried with different sets of headphones. It did NOT used to sound like this when i bought the mpc. Anyone else ran into this sort of trouble? Before my MPC 3000 i had an MPC 1000, and these are my first two samplers i am not at all experienced like many of you guys! The headphone output on your soundcard has an amplifier in it and it causing the distortion.

If you have a line-out output, use that. Otherwise turn down the volume on your computer and watch the incoming levels on your MPC to make sure it's not clipping.

u need to watch ur levels... itll sound like riped shit if u dont watch out

u want to start from your source... and work ur way to the mpc.. making sure u dont loose any quality on the way...

btw.. utube is HORRIBLE soundwise.. u should try to find the actual songs...

Thx for the good advice guys I checked it out but my sample still sounds ruined on the mpc 3k! When i try it on my MPC 1k at the same sound lvl on my computer it sounds fine! It did not used to sound like this with my regular sound settings when i got the MPC 3k, i love my MPC 3k and it sucks going back to the MPC 1k, anyone ever heard of a problem like this? is the sound really digital sounding with lots of beeping, clicks and pops?

i had this similar problem sampling from my soundcard and from my laptops headphone output, i was sure i had a blown sample input on my MPC 60 as when i went through the gain channels using the medium/high gain was completely unusable, then i realized it was the source i was sampling from, when i went from my soundcard output to my mixing desk then my mixing desk to my MPC 60 record input it was fine at all gain settings, so im guessing its your source not the MPC as the others suggest!
