I can't believe it. I won an Akai MPC60 off Ebay. When I got it I noticed the backlight was dead so I sent it right off to VST to be repaired. During the time it was being repaired I ordered the memory expansion from Forat and the operating system from Roger Linn(You can't upgrade the operating system without the memory). I just got the MPC60 back today. To my suprise when I opened the unit to install the upgrade I found that the MPC already had the memory expansion installed. WOW, I didn't have to buy the memory after all. I guess the previous owners installed it, but that's weird. There was no operating system upgrade. Oh Well, guess I'll keep the memory I purchased from Forat incase I come up on a MPC60II. :D

im still sittin on those expansion boards and the upgraded s950... those expansion boards are rarer and rarer every year... 8)

The memory has nothing to do with the OS, the OS and the SCSI are the 2 that are linked.
You can add the memory to any of the OS versions.

guess you should have checked your sample time first. Oh well, can't hurt to have spares these days or you could resell. Looks nice with the backlight and that sounds like a reasonable price for the repair. I like my white backlight I put in mine though - more contrast. I tried to replace the backlight in a 60II I bought for the scsi card and am going to flip but it didn't fix it so I'm waiting on an inverter.

Nice looking mpc - enjoy it.
