Share your knowledge on these two classic MPCs
By Clint Mon Mar 28, 2011 8:22 pm
Was reading through some older threads in this forum relating to the MPC300LE serial numbers. We know there were supposed to be only 2000 units produced in the year 2000, numbered 0001 to 2000. This is just a bit of fun to see who here has which number on their 3000LE, and which were sold in the US/ UK/ Europe/ Japan.

If you can drop pics of the LE that would be dope, even though they all look virtually the same. Also post the VOLTAGE, LE#, CITY/COUNTRY, OS, STORAGE DEVICES and ANY ADDITIONAL HARDWARE UPGRADES. Any other info you care to give about the machine and where/how you got hold of it. I will compile a numerical list of 3000LE's owned by our members in this first post.

Edit: PM me with your details as shown below to be included in the list.

1. LE number.
2. Operating voltage.
3. State, City or Country.
4. OS.
5. Internal storage type.
6. VGA or other upgrades.

Looking at the numbers of forum owned machines, I suspect that 2000 of these were not produced after all. With members from all over the world, is it a coincidence that we have not seen any LE's numbered at 1400-2000? If you spot any LE's numbered 1400+ out in the wild get a photo and post here in this thread.

1. Create a free account with an image-hosting site such as flickr or imageshack. Some image-hosting sites have smartphone apps which allow for direct mobile uploads. Be aware of the privacy settings on your account, and consider the need to tag your pics.

2. Upload pics you want to share to your image-hosting account, copy/paste the [IMG] tag for each pic into your post here on the forum. Like I have done with my avatar which appears as an image, like this.

Image

3. For pics already hosted somewhere online (websites/blogs/auctions etc), right-click to copy the image location. Click on "Img" when constructing your post and then paste the image location so it appears inbetween the two "Img" tags, like this.

[img]fullwebaddressofyourimage[/img]

4. Preview your post before submitting it, to see how it is likely to appear. Oversized images are automatically resized to eliminate the need for scrolling. If you later delete any pics from your image-hosting account, they will also disappear from any posts/threads they were used in.

Good deal Clint!

I traded a classic 3000 & a Tascam DA98 for my 3000LE about 2 years ago from a Guy up in Portland Oregon USA.

I think the whole thing is interesting, If we could account for even 100 of the 2000 units it would be awesome to see where stuff is over the world. I only know 1 other guy personally that has a 3000LE I am going to ask him the LE number on his (its in mint condition probably used twice and he had Roger Linn sign it...) and get a pic for the list. If we get a decent list going just to know how many are out there it's a good experiment atleast! Some i know have been Forat painted. So if anyone here knows someone with a LE and can snap a pic or atleast get the LE number and City where its located it would be helpful getting the list extended.

Another thought is Rohan has the LE numbers listed when you buy the 3.50 OS so it pop's on the boot screen. Maybe he can give an estimate of how many LE unit's he has on his list!
