Choppin in the 3000

New to the MPC3000

Can some one tell me how or the way you used the 3000 to chop up a sample into lil bits of samples?

Being that there is not cut n paste straight a wave edit screen. is it possible to take the middle section of a sample and add that to a seperate pad and or the beginin and end?

Or do we have to make multiple copies of the same sample and cut it to peices?

yup like that...

in sounds>edit Sounds, the copy zone to temp will cut whatever you pecify from the sample which you can then paste to another sample. I make a bunch of .1 second samples that are black to copy to then delete the first .100 second.

It is possible, and not difficult once you get the hang of it. You then have to assign the sample to a pad.

3.08 same as 3.11 but i recomend at least getting the new os from akai website, everthang runs and loads quicker, but yeah chopping is easy on 3000/60 (w/upgrade) just sample whatevs your 5 seconds go, copy the sample immediately 5 times and do your pleasing, my shit will usually be say sound492, then just copy it, 1ound492, 2ound492, 3ound492, 4ound492, boom ****** chop it.

oh and 3.11 has the easy to use delete after soft start/end function in the soft key 6 screen.

get 3.11, downalod it, put it on a dos format disk and put that shit in your mpc every time you boot up, all good it will load cool.

I tried dwnloadin the os from the Akai site and it didnt work. I ordered the chips - $55, from them this week. I can cancel this order if some 1 can get me the OS to work.

when i did dwnload it, the 3 said that this disk was not readable. Im runnin os 3.08 right now.

Should i just let these chips come or somebody got some better news.

as far as the 'Burghs' scene now is pretty much ... "yung world". Buts its the Burgh. hopefully when we get this poppin .. it'll get poppin.

I just need to master my craft on the 3000. I've been away 4 a minute makin beats. I was mixin for awhile. now im gettin back n2 it. Mixin help a great deal as far as gettin the sounds , and hope to treat and mess with them as far as producin wise. But mixin itself is a craft - engineering.

doin both makes everything seen. U know how u want ur stuff to come out. And how u can make ur stuff better.

But with both crafts and everything else. It takes time, patience and that will!

nah homie, i got a pc running windows98se, it should work, make sure its an hd disk, unzip the file, just put the unzipped contents on the pc formatted disk and smak it into your 3000, it should work, save ya ass 55 dollars. ok, ima go lite some fireworks. 1!!!!!!!!!

best to get the roms I think, the floppy solution is there if you ever want to load an old os, which should be a rare occassion, but that's $55 well spent.

In the studio i have it hooked up to a Z4, which has a 120G harddrive. I also wanted somethin to 3000, itself for its own sample dump n load.

1 other thing. I have 2chips in there but my samplin time adds upto a lil more than 122 sec. mono. thought we get 180 somethin?

I'm used to using fasttracker so chopping inside the mpc3000 is a pain in the ass...especially since the copy>paste only works in the sample your working on, when I switch to another sample the clipboard gets emptied...


I use Soundforge to chop up my samples in the PC.
then I transfer the chops back to the MPC using a ZIP drive
(2 actually, 1 SCSI connected to my MPC and 1 USB to my PC)
