The MIDI soft through ON/OFF seems to have no effect!

I'm having a bit of a problem with using an MPC 60 with a computer sequencer.
I want to play the pads on the MPC 60 and hear the sounds on the MPC 60 and record the MIDI to a computer.
I then want to be able to have the computer trigger the sounds on the MPC whilst recording new parts to the computer with the pads.
To do this the MPC would need to receive data from the computer and NOT pass that back to the computer.
If this happens there is a feedback loop. This is what is happening.
The MIDI soft through ON/OFF does not change this.
here's what i'm pressing:

> MIDI
> Option 1 'MIDI input filter, soft thru, other'
> MIDI soft thru:OFF

am i missing something obvious

thanks

Yes, the thing your missing is that the MPC has a great sequencer built in
Why not use it to sequence the internal sounds and sync to logic via MIDI clock, MTC or SMPTE ?

ha, yeah... i do intend to get to grips with the internal sequencer AS WELL as sorting out the problem with the MIDI feedback loop.
By the way, this MPC60 has version 2 software...
Still no closer to sorting out the original problem. But thanks for the encouragement with the internal sequencer!
