Which would you keep?

Not been on here in ages. Anyway I'll get straight to the point; I need to sell a lot of gear due to a long stint of unemployment and I'm struggling to work out which to keep (if I even can?!) as I haven't done much music for a few years now but want to get back into it. So here's what I have:

MPC 60 Mk2 - My first one and also fully upgraded also think I have the box for it somewhere to. I'm definielty keeping it.

MPC60 MK1 - Pretty clean and comes with a custom case, fully upgraded if I recall.

MPC60 MK1 - Faulty and looking rough as fook but does actually function and has the RAM upgraded and either the OS or SCSI. Also has a hard case. It's going though.

MPC3000LE - Really nice example real clean with original box, disks and manual. Only 16MB I think, not that it really makes a difference.

SP1200 - Don't think I ever really used it as I couldn't get on with the plasticy buttons and it's limitations way of working....

I'd be interested in any opinions as I'm well rusty....

My opinion is you could get paid brother

If you're not attached to the sound of the SP1200 (the main reason people put up with the interface), they are going for between $1500-$2000USD, provided they are clean.

$1100USD is the lowest I saw a MPC3000 go for lately, but I've seen as high as $1700USD.

If you didn't have the MPC60 mk2, I'd say keep the 3000, but more vintage beats vintage I guess

If it were me I'd keep the SP1200, but I've always wanted one. I could never justify the price though, because I thought the interfacing with the machine might not appeal to me, same as how you felt.

and really, after that, you didnt lose anything that you still dont have... honestly...



all of them are money in the bank, but prices on the 60s have deflated more in the past few years it seems...

Put the 3.01 os and max memory in your cleanest 60 mk1 and sell the rest.

I have the 60 mk1, max memory, crap 2.01 os...but don't rally need the new os as I just got a maxed memory S950 and if I want the functions like mono hits or mute when letting go of a sample hit, i'll just use the s950...and the s950 has timestretch too. I just like the 60... maybe the 3k and features and sequencer is better, i dunno, never had one..but i use my 60 on everything as my main seq and drum sampler.

What fobe said....and if the 60 case can be modded to fit the 3000, I'd keep that too


It's a tough call though...I'm guessing we'll know your decision by watching the for sale section?

If it were me I'd probably keep the LE, but it sounds like you need the cash more than numerous MPs.

I'd keep the 3000 and SP1200 and unload the rest at first. Then if things don't get better, I would unload the SP1200.

60 mk2.

Sell one or two 60s now but keep the rest and get a job. Even if it's McDonald's.

Honestly, you'll regret selling and even though it will help you live for another month or two, it won't help you get back into work. At the end of that time, you'll have no money and no gear.

Interesting to see you've valued the 3000LE more than the SP1200...

It'd probably feel like you're selling your children but the reality is all of those machines have been replaced by far cheaper more advanced hardware.

At the end of the day it's all material stuff...it'd say keep what is special to you.

Sorry been meaning to reply for a while but wanted to see how sales went. Bottom line is loads of interest but everyone "doesn't have the money right now" or worse wants to trade....

Yeah I just think the 3K is a really nice example. I didn't think to advertise it on here though

I feel you. Luckily I don't really feel attached to any of them except the 60mk2 (which I'm keeping anyway luckily) and the 3K but that looks like it's going.....
