URGENT - Anyone please help me out reassuring a Ebay buyer m

Hi guys,

I have owned my MPC60 since brand new. Infact along the way I have owned multiple 60s.

I always have known the pads require a firm hit. If you press lightly you get a stutter sometimes. Ie a pad re-trigger.

I have just sold my MPC on Ebay and the guy who has bought it off me thinks its broken and stuttering. I have tried to explain these things need a firm touch.

Can any other 60 expert back me up here re how these things work. IE they need a strong touch. Not a ultra light tap. Would be most grateful and would hopefully avoid a return.

Thanks mate. Impartially coming from a mod on this site will help alot.

He seems a decent guy, I just think he is not used to how these things work.
Fair enough really, I mean satisfying himself it isn't actually broken I would do the same.

I just feel my word is obviously going to be worthless as if I were a con man id be telling him "hey, thats just how they work" but im not a con man and its the truth.

If anyone else can share their experience id be most grateful. If you think it is re-triggering feel free to say. Im trying to be as open and honest as I can.

yeah sometimes if you dont hit the pads in the center they double trigger... I think it's awesome if you can master doing it on purpose.

often if you dont hit the pad firmly and your finder hit the corner and you didn't take your finger off the pad after the hit (ie: kept it there so when the rubber bounces back your finger hits it again)... that happens...

Keep 'em coming guys, more the merrier. And thats for or against. If my MPC is F'd, ill gladly give the guy his cash back, but its been like that since new.

Well I just figure me telling him its how it works sounds weak as obviously some unscrupulous Ebay sellers would tell a guy a gold fish always swims on its side when in reality its dead.

Not me, I buy into the whole Karma thing. So I treat people right and life gets easier. Or so I like to believe.

So this thread is two fold.

1 - To satisfy myself I am right and haven't just been unlucky and the 5 MPC60s I have used over the years including my own weren't all part of some faulty batch and they all actually re trigger. In which case I would refund the buyer.

2 - After this thread has a few gurus opinions I will link him to it. And thats if you all say its broken too. As said if it is I will refund him no probs, he seems a decent guy. So hopefully when 5 or so MPC60 experts say this is correct he is more likely to believe them than the guy who sold him it.

As Lampdog said he needs to realise he's doing it all wrong, having used various 60's, 3000's, 2000 and owner of a XL they all do it if you don't hit the pad dead on.

I personally wouldn't accept it back as there is nothing wrong with it at all by the sounds of it

The buyer linked me to the following video to show me how my 60 is not performing correctly like the one in this youtube video.

Thing is I think the one in the you tube clip is not performing correctly because the guy in it is hitting it like a girl. Its user error and the MPC4000 in that vid is fine IMO.

How do you see it? Interestingly none of the comments on that vid have pointed this out? Makes me wonder if any of them have even owned one before.

Yeah Id love to hear his comments though. I have to stand by mine and that 3000 is fine and its operator error. I realise the vid was some time ago and so his opinion may have changed.

Either way, would be good to have his input.

In french that's what we called "Croire au père Noêl", understand "To believe in Santa Claus".
Some hardware have been very well built and stand the test of time, but to buy vintage gear and expect it to work just like brand new stuff from the store remains quite funny to me

Actually my 60 'does' work like it did in the store in 89 when I bought it.

Like you say built to last. The pads are no more or less responsive than when I bought this brand new.
