A Little Food For Thought On No Wave Editing

Am I the only one who thinks it's better not to have it? I see some people bringing it up as a reason not to buy an MPC 3000/60. As an sp 404sx user (who wants to buy an mpc 3000 next year) I NEVER chop my shit on computers. It's just so much better without the **** waveform for me because I don't wanna see shit when I chop something in chops or when I set start and end points for a loop. The waveform is bullshit for me because I wanna hear the sample and not see it. Come to think of it adding a visual dimension to audio editing is a weird idea (for me at least). For me this is, besides the mpc 3000's (or 60) sound, one of the main reasons to buy one. And it's good training for your ears too so

Just a random thought I had and wanted to post here, peace.

If people can't calibrate what their eyes and ears are telling them, AND act upon the information separately... something's not right somewhere.

It all depends on what you are used to I suppose. At the end of the day, if you do it with you ears, you don't have to look at the waveform anyway. I have used both 3000 and currently have my 2000xl and chopping on both is no problem. I don't tend to find waveform more helpful on a general basis, however sometimes it can help as you can see the change in sound and therefore scroll straight to it.

But at the end of the day, you know what you want to sample as you are chopping anyway, so in the end both get the job done. Not to buy a 3k/60 because of no waveform though is pathetic I must say.

Lol why? I agree it would be if it was the only or the most important reason for me getting one but it's just another plus for me. (although "main reason" was overexaggerating)

Not saying I can't chop with waveform but if I could pick I would go for no waveform ;o

What i meant to say was dude, that people who get put off of 3ks and 60's because they don't have wave editing need to think again. Like you said, waveform is most certainly not essential and even though those 2 units don't have waveform, they have so many other plus points it balances it out. At the end of the day your right, you sample with your ears not your eyes.

I haven't chopped samples on a 60/3000 so I can't say which one I'd prefer.....
But chopping a drum break in .wav form seems faster then numerical. But whatever way you learned how to do something tends to be the fastest way.It wuldnt stop me from buying a 60/3000..... Which I'm going to buy someday.
