Sequencer play / record freeze on 3000?

Only got my 3000 recently and now i have had a problem couple of times where i am programming a beat and the sequencer suddenly stops working and won't play or record (it will do anything else i tried though). When i press play or record a message comes up "MMC play button played" (or something like that) but nothing happens (no lights on the buttoins either) once when it did this i deleted the sequence, and it worked fine again, but last time it froze this didnt work, so i turned the 3000 off an on again, and it still wouldnt record! I've turned it off and left it now, hoping it will work when i go back tomorrow.. I am running OS 3.11 from floppy, with only 3.10 chips. Is this a software problem? maybe 3.11 OS chips would solve it? many thanks in advance if anyone can help!

You have inadvertently hit the MMC shortcut (which, IIRC, is a key combo between stop and record - check the manual).

You can turn this off by going into the MIDI menu and turnign it off.

Happens to me often coming from an SP background and the way transport is handled there.

Thanks shosta.. i got up in the middle of the night and had another go...figured out that mmc was a different mode in the end after alot of hair-wrenching... but good to know exactly where to change it cos i still didn't figure that out heh

I think it just initialises the MPC ready for control by another device (MIDI machine control). I've not tried it - I just always hit it by accident. Maybe someone with more experience could confirm.

nice one got it all sorted once i found the right bit of the manual! the index is totally fkn useless!! haha well it adds to the mystery i guess
