well what do you already use, what are you looking for?

I mean, they are similar... right? but obviously the 3000 has it's advantages over that 60. (sample time etc..)

well as I said, ram... the 3000 maxes out at 32 megs of ram (sample time) and the 60 maxes out at 1.5 megs of ram... which only adds up to about 26 seconds of mono 12 bit samples in total. (if you have the earlier OS versions each sample cant be longer than 5 seconds... the latest OS allows for higher than 5 seconds per sample.. but in the end.. you are limited to 26 seconds in total with the ram expansion and 13 without it..) (also, with the earlier OS versions on the 60, you only get 2 pad banks)

lastly, the 60 has one mono input... the 3000 has stereo inputs (for sampling)

Just curious (I have an mpc60 and s950, both maxed out)... how much sample time can you get out of 32mgs from a mpc3k?? ..at both the lowest and highest khz rate settings??

so really the 3000 has alot more over the 60 then ? is there anything that 60 has that the 3000 doesnt guessin it comes down to personal preferance between the 2 ?

Punch, bumps, crunch, phatness, warmth, etc.. or whatever else people call yummy 12-bit goodness ;)

I def can't let go of my S950 or MPC60, not even for a 3k... thinking of even adding an Emax. Never had a 16bit yet.. but considering a Roland S760 since theyre really cheap and I hear they sound super good for 16bit.

lol x2!

The 3k is incredible, don't get me wrong I swear by it....

But the 60 has all that 12 bit goodness.

If you plan on using a 900 or 950 with it the 60 cant be stopped.

If you plan on just one machine as the mothership, than its the 3000 all day.

the 60 has the echo/fx send/return which I like a lot... most people I dont think care about that though.

the 60 has more dedicated buttons I think (never actually counted) but that is not really an issue..

the 60 if you have OS 2.14 or earlier... has the help button you can hold to gain info which is nice if you forget what some params mean or if you are new.

the 60mk1 has the padded arm rest, the 60mkii has the front headphone output

**** it, get both.

A lot of thing, but on top of the list i would put the dynamic lowpass filter with envelope generator (and resonance!) for each voice. 8)

yeah

it comes down to how you want to use it, that'll decide what factors are more important than others

id go for 3K (+S950 or so if id want 12 bit sound)
